Biking the south shore of Nova Scotia will take you past gorgeous coastal scenery, through small towns like Chester, Hubbard and Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cycle the Aspotogan Peninsula and enjoy the beaches, ride to Ovens Park and check out the sea caves reached by tunnels. Every night plan on dining well. Scenery on a bike ride along the south shore of Nova Scotia. After you’ve spent three or four days cycling the 250 kilometre on south shore roads, head to Wolfville, a very pretty university town. Ride out to Cape Split and then do a 14 kilometre hike. We did shuttle to the east end but rode back to Charlottetown from Souris in a day. Also highly recommend a trip to the Magdalen Islands. It’s a 5 hour ferry ride over there but so worth it. Great food, beautiful beache. .

The Magdalen Islands, or the Maggies, remote and rural off Quebec’s coast. An old boat in the Magdalen Islands in Quebec. Cindy on a wind buggy. There’s no limit to the types of outdoor activities suited to this landscape and climate - cycling, hiking, and of course every water sport imaginable. Aerosport Activity Centre in Étang-du-Nord is our stop for kitebuggying. We head to a wide, deserted beach where an instructor demonstrates the techniques to control and maneuver the enormous kites. We squeeze into wetsuits and follow the twenty-something guide across the sand dunes to the beach. Seals watch from a distance as we are tossed to and fro by strong waves; we carefully climb onto a large rock jutting up from the water take turns diving in.

During your stay at the Iles de la Madeleine, also known as Magdalen Islands, enjoy exquisite seafood, wind sports, sea excursions and much more. From mid-June to late September, a CTMA cruise can take you to the Islands from Montréal every week; a ferry also runs from Prince Edward Island year-round. The Islands are particularly suited to longer stays and are best explored during a series of day trips from a home base. Enjoy the sea and the wind

Gives different routes and options for riding routes, also like the circular routes so you can stay in one place 2 nights.

My wife & I used this guidebook on a very casual bike trip to Nova Scotia a few years ago. It combines very readable and enjoyable commentary by the author along with faily decent maps and excellent ride suggestions. I only wish that more guidebook author's would follow Mr. Thompson's format. In summary - it's the only guidebook I've ever read cover to cover! Highly recommended !!
