About Buff Hardie: Along with Stephen Robertson and George Donald, William Buff Hardie created the popular Scottish comedy show, Scotland the What?, o. .All three had been students at Aberdeen University in the 1950s where Hardie and Robertson excelled as writers and performers, while Donald contributed the musical elements to several Aberdeen student shows. The show which was to become a national treasure made its debut in September 1969, on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Scotland the What? was an instant hit and returned to the Fringe in triumph the following year, with some added Northeast material.
