Michael Heatley was born in the city of Liverpool in 1955, the son of a fanatical Evertonian. He therefore had no choice but to become steeped in Everton Football Club history. He has also penned a number of football history books including The Great Derbies: Liverpool v Everton (1996, with Ian Welch) and contributed to a number of FA Cup Final programmes.
