Excellent history on the Masters hole by hole with the great shots and not so great encounters at each hole throughout the history of the tourney. Shelves: 2018-read-books. Lots of cool history. Mar 07, 2010 Michael Webb rated it really liked it. Pretty much what it says it is-stories and legends from each hole of America's premier golf course. Of no interest to non golf fans.

This is a must read book for anyone, like myself, that is fascinated
by this iconic competition. This brings you though the highs and lows
of great wins, horrible losses and amazing individual performances.
From Bobby Jones to Tiger Woods and many more in between we are reminded
of the accomplishments of these great players on individual holes.
This format can become tiring at times as there is no shortage of consummate detail
but it more than makes up for this lapse with superb insights into famous holes
that come to life on our screens every April. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

The Masters is my favorite sporting event. I watch every second of the coverage and eat up the history of the event. I have been looking for a book that shows the history of the course and after a few unsuccessful purchases I found this book. The book does a great job of going through the history of the course in an entertaining fashion where it easy could read like a history book. My only complaint is the book is in need of an update to cover historic shots from last 8 years including Mickelson from pine straw on 13, Bubba from right of 10 in playoff, Tiger rules controversy at 15 and Schwartzel four birdie finish to name a few.

I gave this book to my husband for Christmas. He is really enjoying it. He is a player and a big fan of the game. We had the opportunity to attend a practice round at the Masters a couple of years ago, he is reliving seeing those holes one by one.

A fresh and innovative way to share the history and tradition of the Masters, the nation's most outstanding sporting event, helping the reader understand and appreciate the course and what the golfers, past and present, have faced on every shot and evey hole down through the years. Lots of humanity and color included, not just course information.

A very good, informative read on "The Masstes," a tradition unlike any other.

One Footnote: The third edition of this book must surely include Phil Michelson's shot at 13 in the 2010 tournament, out of the trees, out of the pine straw of the dogleg and onto the green. One heckua shot, not as meaningful and amazing perhaps as Gene Saranzen's double eagle, but a truly magnificent shot when a magnificent shot was needed.
