Author : Paul Ferrini. Publisher : Heartways Press,U. Love is not a fragile, shiny thing, kept separate from the pain and misery of life. It is born of our willingness to learn from our mistakes and encounter the depth of our pain, as well as our partner's pain. That is the way it is. In time we learn that all pain is the same pain. And we have compassion for the other people who inadvertently step on our toes as they learn to find the inner rhythms of the dance. Like us, they will stumble and fall hundreds of times until that moment of profound aceptance when grace comes and the beloved takes their hand in the circle.

To have them close their hearts to love. And unfortunately, with fear you can achieve just that. Fear: the enemy of Love. We live in a world infused with fear. A world that wants us to believe we can’t trust anyone – we can trust our fellow human beings, we can’t trust the future, we can’t trust nature, we can’t trust God, we can’t trust the food we eat, the water we drink, we can’t trust our bodies, our own hearts, and souls, and we can’t trust. the natural flow of life. We can learn to open our hearts to love by recognizing that suffering is part of the human experience and that our pain is no different than the pain of those around us. We can learn to open our hearts to love by holding the hands of those whom we once resented and by offering them our forgiveness. We can learn to open our hearts to love by replacing all judgments and criticisms with kindness and compassion.

Romance may open the door to love, but it does not help us walk through it. Something else is needed. Something deeper. Something ultimately more real. Challenging times must be weathered. Love must be strengthened beyond neediness and self-interest. It must die a thousand deaths to learn to rise like the phoenix beyond adversity of any kind. You just can't go wrong with Paul Ferrini and I have purchased almost all of his books all through Amazon and am happy I did so.

I bought this book because I liked other books from him. I must say it was not what I expected.

What I found was an insightful look into love in its many forms, and a reflective way to reframe my own relationships.

NOT A SELF HELP BOOK. More like a meditation on thoughts about what love is and could be.

Dont read it if you are expecting a step by step process for relationships.

DO read it if you are in a contemplative moment in your life, at a crossroads in a relationship and have an independent, open mind in which to ponder.

As Always Paul Ferrini did it again, good book, very direct and honest about relationships and the relationship we have with ourselves. I would recommend it.

As many individuals today, I enjoy listening to books while driving, on flights, at work, etc... I'm finding it especially difficult to find Paul Ferrini books on Audio. Will this be changing soon? I would purchase everyone if they were available on Audio or available to download into my computer. Thank you - Lorie

This book came right on time for me. Reading this opened my eyes and my heart to some things that I needed to see. If you are in a rough spot with a relationship, I think this book could help you. It has helped me. I was strongly focused on all the things that I didn't like about the other person, and justifying the reasons I wanted out. Reading this changed my perspective.

I've read that the things we can't tolerate in others are the very things that we cannot forgive ourselves for. So, when we think it's the other person we can't stand, really it's ourselves we can't stand. When we think the other person will never change, we're afraid we'll never change.

This book explains love and relationships as they really are, not the fairy tales that we want to believe they are. The tough times are part of the love as much as the happy/content times. This is about real and grown up love, not puppy/infatuation love. This will guide you through the pain and fears of your love and marriage or relationship.

"Difficult, challenging times must be weathered. Love must be strengthened beyond neediness and self interest. It must die a thousand deaths to learn to rise like the phoenix beyond adversity of any kind." -From the book.

"The issue is always what we are able to bring. Until we can bring all of ourselves, the person looking back at us will never meet our expectations." -from the book.

Lots of wisdom in this book. I think marriage counselors should have a copy of this to give out and go over with their couples. I have read and re-read this, and I know I'll be referring to it often.

I very highly recommend this book. It made a tremendous difference in my life!

I was moved to write a review on this most unusual and beautiful book. I found this book quite by accident. When I finished reading it, I thought it was the most important book I have ever read. For me, this book was about love, what love means, how we hold love in our hearts, and the depth of love in our souls. The book is interwoven with the most beautiful poetry. I found myself weeping at times, suddenly and unexpectedly. I believe I was weeping because the ideas expressed in this book were consistent with what I have always believed and held to be true, about the meaning of love, God, my spiritual path, and most especially, about my belief in soul-mates. I don't know how Paul Ferrini knew what was in my heart, but he did. I shared this book with my best friend apprehensively, wondering if she would feel as I did. When she finished the book, she told me that she thought it was one of the most important books she had ever read. I was happy to have her agreement, but knew it really would not have mattered how the book touched her. I would still have my own true experience. I read two other books by Paul Ferrini after reading this one. But I have shared about my experience of this book with at least 20 people, since reading it last month. Finding this book was an act of divine intervention, I am convinced.
I had never heard of Paul Ferrini and after reading several of his books I have been so inspired and transformed by his writings. He expresses his teachings is such a clear, gentle way that I have never experienced before. I have a small fortune invested in so many books of this nature by different authors and have yet to read books that have impacted me the way Paul Ferrini's books do. You feel he is speaking directly into your heart and I have learned so much. I highly recommend to anyone seeking comfort and guidance in a way you may never have received it before in reading a book. All of his books are good and I have almost all of them. I wish his books were in every household, school, church, etc. His teachings are that powerful and so necessary in the world we live in today. Please discover this wonderful man's books and you will never, ever regret it..I wish I could give the book 10 stars!
