More important, you will. Theodora Lau was born in Shanghai and lived with her husband and two children in Hong Kong before moving to California, where she is presently settled. Exotic and fun, chinese astrology has begun to take off in popularity. I'm more biased for the Chinese horoscopes since I always find the Western Astrology not like me at all. The book not only named traits of what each sign is mainly known for but elaborated on it, for example, it didn't just say the Dog is loyal but loyal to the point of companionship and standing up for morals and injustice. It is however not a book for matching up signs for love. It does cover a little bit about it but you'd have to find another book if you want one just focused on love relationships.

Much of this book reads like the author's Complete Guide (above), with the exceptions of the purely popular sections on the 12 animals and how they fare in each of the twelve years, which are fairly trivial. The introduction is excellent, as are the instructions for finding the Hour animal, the Month animal, the Day animal, complete with easy to use tables. St. Martin's Press, 690 pages, paper.

BY Theodora Lau. Most people in the West today are familiar with the twelve animal signs of Chinese astrology, each governing a lunar year and bringing to it, and to the people born in that year, its own individual personality. What is not so widely known is that these animal names were a later addition, dating from the time of the Lord Buddha who, according to legend, assigned a year to each of the twelve animals who came to bid him farewell on his departure from Earth.

In this comprehensive guide to wedding planning, Laura Lau and Theodora Lau, authors of the top selling Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes, answer the many wedding questions they have received over the years, and teach readers how to customize a wedding based on the bride and groom's lunar and solar signs. Accompanied by beautiful Chinese calligraphy, the book introduces readers to their Chinese moon sign, shows them how to best use their sign's natural strengths during the planning process, and helps them predict challenges during the time leading up to the wedding.

I have the HANDBOOK OF CHINESE HOROSCOPES and this is even better, as far as learning about the combinations that work together. I really believe this is very accurate. I have been using the personality descriptions (for 25 years) and finding them so accurate in most cases. If you look at these personality traits as the foundation for who we are and then go to how we were raised and how we have been programed by our society, one can get a really accurate idea of how we are the way we are. I was taught by a Shaman that our year sign is more true to how we are than our month sign. So, for me, my year is Rooster which converts to Virgo in the sun sign and my month is Capricorn which converts to OX. Therefore I am a Virgo/Capricorn if you go to read your daily horoscope. It is a great resource for relationships and gives ideas of what things to watch out for.

I bought this book because I enjoyed the author's previous book about Chinese horoscopes. It was a good read. She gives more insight about each of the signs in specific positions in society. (workplace, relationships, family, teachers etc)

My son is marrying into a culture where this is important, they had to submit their birthdates including time of birth toget best dates for wedding. This book helps me understand better why this is important.

I'm assuming anyone that wants to read this type of book will understand that it might be an uncomfortable read because once you read yourself on the page, it's almost...a vulnerable state you're left in. It's a very interesting read and it's great to see things from an unbiased perspective. It helps you try to see things without opinion and being more open to others opinions, personalities, and ideas! I really enjoyed reading this book!

It also came in a timely manner and in good shape!

Previous (older) version had all years outlined for each lunar sign whereas this version only had a few years noted, presumably to ensure you have to purchase newer copies each time! Not impressed!

Not bad. Typical summaries but I wish it had gone further into breaking down the Chinese horoscopes into elements.
