Geodynamics of Lithosphere & Earth’s Mantle: Seismic Anisotropy as a Record of the Past and Present Dynamic Processes (Pageoph Topical Volumes) by Jaroslava Plomerova,Robert C. Liebermann,Vladislav Babuska

Contents 213. Geodynamics of Lithosphere and Earth's Mantle: Seismic Anisotropy as a Record of the Past and Present Dynamic Processes, J. Plomerova, R. C. Liebermann and V. Babuska. I. Large-scale Anisotropy of the Earth's Mantle. Seismic anisotropy provides some of the most diagnostic evidence for mapping past and present deformation of the entire crust-mantle system. This Topical Issue is derived mainly from papers presented in an International Workshop on "Geodynamics of the Lithosphere and the Earth's Mantle-Seismic Anisotropy as a Record of the Past and Present Dynamic Processes" held on July 8 -13, 1996 at the Chateau of nest' in the Czech RepUblic. The bulk of this Topical Issue is devoted to seismic anisotropy which provides a new dimension in the investigation of processes of our dynamic Earth.

Robert C. Liebermann. Part of the Pageoph Topical Volumes book series (PTV). Plate tectonics has significantly broadened our view of the dynamics of continental evolution, involving both the processes currently active at the surface and those extending deep into the interior of the Earth. Geodynamics of Lithosphere and Earth's Mantle. Author: Jaroslava Plomerova,Robert C. Liebermann,Vladislav Babuska. Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media. Publisher: Birkhäuser. This book highlights and discusses recent developments that have contributed to an improved understanding of observed mantle heterogeneities and their relation to the thermo-chemical state of Earth's mantle, which ultimately holds the key to unlocking the secrets of the evolution of our planet.
