Together they fight many wars, in their home land and the Holy Land. She fights through the bloody crusades and became known as the Queen of Knights. A well written story with Medieval history and fantasy to make a suspense filled dramatic story. With plenty of action and a bit of romance I found the plot intriguing. Queen of Knights - David Wind. It was just as the sun dropped from the sky that Gwyneth was taken to the birthing bed. The day outside was angry, and the winter wind whistled through the cracks of the castle walls, which were poorly kept up by Sir Guy, who cared for little, not even the young wife he had married. Already in residence were Ariel and her servants. Gwyneth’s bedchamber had been made warmer by the women, who had hung large tapestries upon the walls to stop the cold winds from stealing through.

In an age of great Kings, comes the Legend that has been foretold since the Dawn of Time. In an age of great Kings, comes the Legend that has been foretold since the Dawn of Time. From the palace of Richard the Lion-Hearted to the Court of Saladin, knightly heroes ride into battle, and one, rides with the greatest secret of them all.

From Medieval England to the Crusades in the Holy Land comes a legenday woman of Magic and Might ---In the days of Richard The Lion Heart, Gwendolyn was born. Conceived within the Druid mists, at King Arthur's Legendary Pool of Pendragon and as prophesied by a Druid Priestess, she grew into womanhood, and became the most powerful knight the world had ever seen. ---When Miles Delong, Earl of Radstock and military adviser to King Richard first saw her, he was lost to her beauty and might. He taught her the art of war, but it was Gwendolyn, who taught Sir Miles the art of love. ---Together, Gwendolyn and Myles fought their enemies both at home and in the Holy Land. But it was not until Sir Miles was treacherously given over to Saladin, the King of the Moors, that Gwendolyn left England's Druid Groves and went to the Holy Land, not as Gwendolyn Delong, wife of the Earl of Radstock, but as Sir Eldwin of Radstock, where she led the fight through the bloody Crusades and into to the very Court of Saladin, that the Queen of Knights became a legend. This book is excellent, in the best tradition of Arthurian Legends, but set in the time of Richard the Lion Heart, with a feminine protagonist. I recommend the book to those who enjoy historical fiction, with a bit of Deus ex Machinae thrown in for good measure.

I was hoping this book would be really good...It was ok. It moved so slow I considered giving it up a couple of times. But I persisted and it didn't get any better.

I was looking for a sword and sorcery type story and it seemed to have a really interesting storyline. However, the main characters seemed to be in rut every time I turned the page. I can handle a little of that, but this was way over the top and ruined the story for me. I never finished it.

It is a different spin for a traditional type of story in the time era of the crusades. Also it is a fun mix of fantasy, historical figures and literary figures.

** Review of Audio Format **

A post-Arthurian tale with a bit of a twist. Gwendolyn is born from mystery and mists of the Pool of Pendragon. She is secretly trained by her mother until her death and then by her husband to become the greatest night in the British empire. When Miles of Radstock is given to Saldin, sultan of the Moors for revenge, can Gwendolyn save her husband so that her legacy is safe and her destiny can be fulfilled?

This is an intriguing read with a thoughtful plot and fully developed characters. Some of the conflicts. 'joining' and fight scenes get a little repetitive but, overall, it kept me engaged and I was entertained to the end. Gwendolyn is truly a fearsome creature to behold and one not many men would go up against! Richard is nuanced as I haven't seen before and even Robin Hood makes an appearance and assists our heroine. In short, there is much to entertain and divert in this listen.

The narration was good and I enjoyed Hollie Jackson's ability to perform the dialogue.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.

Much of the focus of this story seems to be in England, and is based on the love between the Lady Gwendolyn and the Knight Miles Delong, whose fates are determined by mystical powers. However there is a lot of stimulating rivalry later on...

This novel is woven with many myths and fantasy elements, which I enjoyed. Much of the beginning is like a romantic dream, with vibrant colours and beautiful settings combined to create a scene that is memorable both to the characters and the reader.

It starts at a steady pace, but it picks up in style when we are introduced to the hulking cruel bull of a Knight Morgan of Guildswood, who is prepared to kill anybody who stands in the way of his marriage to Gwendolyn. When Gwendolyn falls in love with Miles Delong a rivalry begins. Expect very well-described and exciting battles in melees; and classic confrontations between good and evil. These battles were the highlights for me, and the author provided plenty of this type of excitement, which continued throughout.

The last third is concerned with the Crusades. The scene the author paints is vivid and yet again proves his descriptive skill. Is it Richard the Lionheart versus Saladin? Yes, to an extent. However, the overarching conflict in this section seems to be between Gwendolyn and Saladin, the latter who is depicted as a magnanimous ruler whose oath restricts his moral choices.

Overall this was a magnificent well-rounded read, interspersed with battles, excitement, love, history, myth, and fantasy. I respect the author for a lengthy novel that never disappointed.

Gwendolyn is full of self confidence and eloquent, at the same time she is willing to fight. She is a strong confident female lead. I love that in a story. The reference to Medieval England and The Middle East adds flare to an already captivating story.

I highly recommend Queen Of Knights to those who like, (Medieval) Historical/Fantasy/Action stories. A true 5 star read.
