This Time for Keeps ~~ Kathleen Kane. For her ninth life, she is promised health, wealth, and absolutely no chance at love, this time around. But they leave out one tiny, little detail: she's being sent to live in Montana, on a cattle ranch in 1875. At least they got the No More Love part right.

This Time for Keeps is a 1947 American romantic musical film directed by Richard Thorpe and starring Esther Williams, Jimmy Durante, Johnnie Johnston and opera singer Lauritz Melchior. Produced by MGM, it is about a soldier, returning home from war, who does not wish to work for his father's opera company or to continue his relationship with his pre-war lover. The film was shot in color and partly on location at the Grand Hotel, on Mackinac Island in Michigan.

The only other Kathleen Kane book ive read was When the Halo Falls which I LOVED, so i was expecting a lot from this book. I thought the story was nice and Maggie's unexpected talent was really cool to see. I loved Gabe's relationship with Gabe and as Gabe's two months drew to an end my heart totally broke for what everyone was going through. I could not stop laughing. Kathleen Kane arrives for her sentencing hearing at Montgomery County courthouse on October 24 2016; she made an appeal bid which was rejected by the state Supreme Court yesterday. Kane, a full-time mom who made the move into politics in 2012 with the backing of her businessman husband, enjoyed mostly good press early on. But turmoil inside the office became her undoing as top deputies and career prosecutors quit due to her paranoiac leadership style. Her feud with prosecutor Frank Fina, who helped run the Penn state sexual assault investigation, led to the leak.

Love was the death of her.Tracy Hill has lived eight lives-- all of them disastrous-- beginning in 1320 when her own knight in shining armor charged over her with his horse in the dark. Since then, it has been one freak accident after another. Now after the indignity of dying in a bowling ball accident while on a date with a cute new lawyer in her firm, Tracy Hill has had enough. However, Heaven's "Resettlement Committee" has other plans. For her ninth life, she is promised health, wealth, and absolutely no chance at love, this time around. But they leave out one tiny, little detail: she's being sent to live in Montana, on a cattle ranch in 1875. At least they got the No More Love part right. Seth Murdoch is dangerously attractive-- if you like the rugged cowboy type. Thankfully, Tracy doesn't.It's soon clear, though, that this thoroughly modern woman and this nineteenth-century cowboy share more than growing desire, spitfire backtalk, and nights of sleepless longing. They share a star-crossed eternity. And maybe-- just maybe-- this time around, love... and Tracy, are here to stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, it makes for an interesting premise. Tracy, a feisty 21st century woman meets death prematurely. She is greeted by three Celestial beings who have conceded that she died long before her time and that she needs to return once again. She realizes that this has happened to her many times before and she wants no part of it. She especially doesn't want to start all over again from infancy. After some discussion and certain concessions Tracy agrees. Instead of going forward in time, she is sent back to the nineteenth century. For a liberated woman of the 21st century and one who is not hesitant to speak her mind, this is where the fun begins.
As a huge fan of "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon, I was drawn to this book because of its time travel theme. There, the similarity stops. While "Outlander" is a well-written book that engages the reader with both its plot and characters, this book is simply no "Outlander". This is, however, a brash and breezy book time travel romance from which those who are fond of this genre will derive a modicum of enjoyment. Although short on character development, the plot is somewhat interesting, even though the ending is predictable.

Apparently our erstwhile heroine, Tracy Hill, has a penchant for coming to an early and ignominious end in every life that she has lived. It appears, however, that in her ninth life she will have an opportunity to right what has gone wrong before. Heaven's "Resettlement Committee" has decreed that she will be able to have health and wealth in her new life and live to the ripe old age of ninety-five. She will also have the ability to remember her past lives. What Tracy does not bargain for is being sent to live in the past in a remote cattle ranch in 1875 Montana.

Written with humor and quite funny at times, Tracy brings her modern day sensibilities to bear in her new life, where she is reborn into the body of a very-ill woman named Nora. Upon Nora's amazing recovery, she takes Montana by storm and by surprise. She gets to know the two men in Nora's life, the strong and protective Seth, the foreman of her ranch, and the more voluble and somewhat possessive Richard, Nora's supposed fiancé. The new Nora finds herself drawn to Seth almost against her will, while Richard doesn't quite seem to be able to move the earth under her feet. Interlaced with these romantic meanderings is a little mystery that every discerning reader will be able to figure out with little trouble.
I have to admit I am usually not a fan of historical romances but the fish out of water aspect of our heroine being sent back in time to finish her life after 8 freak accidents was fun. Tracy / Nora thinks she is so smart and can get the Committee to give her what she wants to live out her days in the lap of luxery. Be careful what you wish for and make sure to be specific or you could find yourself living on a ranch in Montana in the Wild West.

I loved how the old soul was ready to shake things up a little and after 8 premature endings to her life over a man Tracy was ready to live her life on her own terms. A little time travel, a little intrigue and a good dose of romance made a fun read.
This book is funny, romantic and well written. I loved the plot of the feisty modern women sent back to the 1870's American west. This is a light read and very satisfying. I naturally wanted to find more books by her but ran into lots of confusion. why does this book show up under different author names and the sequel was hard to find because it comes up under different titles. Very weird and annoying.
I was attracted to "This Time for Keeps," because of the well written synopsis. The first chapter lived up to the books blurb, but then it became a standard, if well-written romance novel, but the snap and humor I had expected wasn't there again until the end. This is a very good book but it's not as funny as the write up might make is seem.
A riveting tale of reincarnated lives intertwining thru many meetings over several centuries. An interesting twist on a continuing love story. The author does an excellent job of pulling it as together for a very entertaining and enjoyable read.
I love Mercedes
The usual romance story but an enjoyable read. You can see the ending coming. Kept looking for a twist that never came.
This isn't James Michner, mind you, but a good read and an entertaining novel. Lots of swashbuckling and romance. I recommend the series to anyone interested in this genre.
