THE BACK OF BEYOND Alone and penniless, beautiful Sasha Seymour had thrown in her lot with a rough bunch, and she was bound for an even rougher destination -- the Australian Outback, where she and her jackaroos hoped to carve a sheep station from the vast, untamed wilderness. All that stood between her and the primitive forces of man and nature was the raw strength and courage of her partner, Ashton York.

Passion allowed them to follow their hearts. Kaylene Shelton's home had always been wherever her father's carnival pitched its tents across the wild frontier. It was a lonely upbringing save for the companionship of Midnight, the black panther she had raised from a cub. But she always knew in her heart that somewhere, someone was waiting to end her deep, unspoken longing-if she could only find the dark-haired warrior she had seen in her dreams.

*SPOILERS*This story takes place circa 1856 in Australia. It is about a young couple who
decide to make a living running a sheep farm. They face a series of ups and
downs:problems with the sheep,a brush fire,a bad guy from the past,a pregnant
prostitute, etc. SO much going on here (this is 431 pages long-and i mean LONG).

This was well written but,I did not connect with any of these characters,a bit on the
boring side. The characters seemed one dimensional, love making scenes were blah,
main female character was stupid and I was not impressed with sexy guy either. Fans of
Cassie Edwards might want to check this one out out of curiosity but,otherwise...no.

Usually an avid fan of Ms. Edwards, this is one I don't recommend.
It starts out good enough. Sasha and Ashton are fighting thier love for each other. The villian is pursuing them to ruin them. Typical-but still at least a 3.5 star book...and then the last 100 pages happened.
Suddenly the villian's girlfriend, who's terrified for her unborn child's life, is an expert knife thrower. Who is so scared she wants to wait until her boyfriend is about to kill the h/h before she kills him. And when she delivers her child, she is the only one who can feed it, yet she abandons it to Sasha. Amazingly enough, Sasha figured out something because the child is healthy and alive the rest of the story.
Then, there's a huge drought killing off all the sheep on the farms. Yet the river on the land is full..why aren't they leading the sheep to water?????And last, but definetly not least, when Sasha's adopted son is kidnapped (a little too contrived) she abandons her own newborn for several hours into the night and early morning to take off looking for him. Leaving her OWN infant at home alone in bed!!!! What was she thinking??????Oh right that this was REALLY bad, unrealistic fiction!!!!!

Sasha Seymour was barefoot and broke, saving all her money up to purchase a sheep station with her business partner Ashton York. Still broken hearted over being left by a past beau she carefully avoids a love situation with Ashton, until his kiss sets her body on fire.
Ashton York, owner of a pub in Australia, finds Sasha Seymour and offers to help her out, in more ways than one. In love with her from the moment he laid his eyes on her he vows to make her forget all about the man that left her behind and just think about his embrace, his kiss, and his touch. Until, his past catches up with him.
While I did find the pairing of Sasha and Ashton to be very sweet and romantic I think that the story was drug out. I believe it is worth it if you have the patience to read through a long book. I enjoyed the romance, the humor, and Ashton's dog Lightening! Although I stick mostly to Native American and Cowboy stories this was a good read, except for the 400+ pages.
This had to be one of the worst romance novels I've ever read. I expected better from Ms. Edwards. Sasha was a totally stupid heroine...I couldn't like her even a little. Ashton wasn't very believable either. Don't waste your money on this one. It's an even bigger waste of time!
