Some random characters who could be involved, but nothing serious to indicate them.

This was another great thriller by Ms. Burton! I'd highly recommend reading 'I'm Watching You' first though. There are incidents that occur in that particular book that tie in to this one, and I wanted to make readers aware of the connection between the stories so you can get the fullest enjoyment out of reading them. In this book we have Detective Jacob Warwick who's investigating a homicide and Kendall Shaw, a local anchorwoman who is reporting the story. These two clash more often than not, but they also have a history as well as a deep connection and attraction to each other. As nearly always, I wish this author would focus on the romance more which was pretty non-existent in this one until nearly the end. I simply love her writing though and can never put one of her stories down for long. The characters were well-fleshed and the pace/flow of everything is superior as usual. The killer gave me the absolute creeps and I got goosebumps a few times while reading this. If you love mysteries and suspense novels I'd highly recommend it. Would give most of her books five-stars if the romances were more developed but I still love and enjoy all her stories!
Second book in the series, although Amazon doesn't have them marked as if they are a series. The first book is I'm Watching You. This is a very good romantic thriller.
Dead Ringer is a sequel to Mary Burton’s I’m Watching You and was even better than the first. Ms. Burton has done it again. This was a very well-written action packed, and suspense romantic novel.

Kendall Shaw is a reporter who’s recovering from an attack from a serial killer that almost killed her.

Murdered women, who seem to have a resemblance to Kendall, are now turning up. Could Kendall be next? Detective Jacob Warwick is determined to find this killer and protect Kendall before she becomes the next victim.

Lots of suspense, romance, and twists and turns. A fast paced, hard to put down novel.

About 25 pages in, I realized I had already read the book. Guess what? It was as good the 2nd time as it was the first. Love a good romantic suspense book.
I really enjoyed the first book of this trilogy, but this one wasn't nearly as good.

The killer's identity was obvious from the first time he appeared in the book, as was Kendall's back story and connection to the victims. This left the book with no suspense at all. Add that to a lukewarm romance and it was disappointing.

I also was distracted by the number of times someone "shoved out a breath." I really can't stand when authors come up with a line to describe a personality or character trait and overuse it to the point that it hits you in the face with how often you're seeing it.

Looking forward to the third book, and hoping it's better.
's. Barton weaves together a terrifying tale of the evils done by a killer. Her characters are very believable and well written. I'm a fan!
This is a page turner! Lots of thrills, chills and suspense. Hard to put down, Burton is an excellent writer of thrillers and mysreries. You won't be disappointed.
There is so much going on that is so intense you can not stop reading, wanted to take it slow but it is impossible! Fantastic storyline and characters, now I have to go get another one!!
