This book has changed my life!
Honestly, I don't know how I lived life before this book. From reading through this book, I saw that everything is wrong. My whole life has been a pitiful mistake I called good. I realized my walk with the Lord was actually nothing more than an agonizing dragging of my being, just to go to church.
After seeing how my Ethnocentric view of the world had hindered any actual communication I would have in ministry. I saw ways to reach cross-culturally instead of subjecting myself to only being able to reach a few. This can help you minister to millions (if thats what you are called to do) However, that is if you can reach past that cultural bias. Kraft talks about out cultural lens that we all look through and we can never loose ours. This then poses the question "Can I even minister?" and the answer that Kraft so eloquently responds with "YES". This book reminds you that YES you can while also reminding you that NO you can't. Something truly inspiring! Christianity in Culture is not a statement, its a question. The answer to that question is "I guess".

Kraft is beyond a doubt an expert in his subject. This is a rather dense read. It is an academic text. It is not meant for light consumption. For the purposes of the class in which I read this book, much of what we needed to discuss was within the first 50 pages. I appreciated Kraft's insights into how we form social models, view multiple realities, experience others, and how this process relates to the Christian religion.
