Supernatural vanishings, otherworldly disappearances. 1 Some Classical Disappearances. 2 Devilish Movements. 3 Mysterious Appearances. Specific occurrences of animal entrances and exits, the slipping away of Peter Williamson to another dimension, Benjamin Bathurst’s disappearing trousers, vanishing ships and aircraft, and more, are used as examples of these incredible phenomena.

In the case of many supernatural vanishings, these disappearances were believed to have been predicted or accompanied by extreme weather phenomena. This was the belief of Plutarch, as he describes as follows: In that circumstance, the air suddenly got thicker and changed miraculously, sunlight diminished and all were engulfed by a surprising darkness, accompanied by terrifying thunder and storm. Disappearances are freaky all by themselves. When cops and investigators can't solve the cases, though, the disappearances get even scarier. These unsolved disappearances will haunt you like you can't imagine. Whatever the reaction, unsolved mysteries are an obsession for many of us. Heck, a large section of the podcast industry depends on it. But while unsolved murders are the obvious candidate for obsession and investigation, unsolved disappearances are perhaps even more mysterious and haunting. With a murder, the crime itself is clear: There is a body, and a murder has happened. But with disappearances, not even the crime itself is known. Was it a kidnapping? A murder?

Become fascinated by these carefully researched and documented cases, from "classical" disappearances, such as Aphrodite shrouding Paris as she transported him back to his bedroom, to modern cases of the extraordinary phenomena of teleportation and bilocation-when someone is in two places at one time. Specific occurrences of animal entrances and exits, vanishing ships and aircraft, and more are used as examples of these incredible phenomena. 192 pages, 5 1/4 x 8 1/2.

This book provides a pretty good introduction for those who are interested in learning about "supernatural vanishings". It includes interesting case histories of unexplianed dissappearances and teleportation, and even a few related to time dislocation. However, my main criticism with the book is that is deals mostly with very old cases. The first couple of chapters deal mainly with ancient cases- which could be attributed to legends and myths. The later parts of the book deal mainly with cases from the 14th to early 20th century. if you are sceptical before buying the book, this book will probably not be sufficient to change your mind; but if you read with an open mind, this is a pretty enjoyable read.
Davies has written an enjoyable case history book of tales of those who vanish. Were they myths such as the story of Rip Van Winkle? Or are they actual vanishings. When one understands the world of quantum physics, anything is possible. I recommend this for those who have an interest.
