This may be one of the most important books ever written. Yes, that's a dramatic statement, but this book can change your life. Of-course, any change requires honesty on the part of the reader. Once you begin to lower your defenses and recognize how important life view is, the idea of practicing true gratitude begins to make absolute sense. I am not the "new age, hippy-dippy, touchy-feely" type person. This is not a "lets look at life through rose colored glasses" book. Instead, Ryan forces you to consider how recognizing what you have versus what you think you need/want can change everything. I so love this book that I've bought numerous copies to share with family, friends, co-workers and members of my women's group. Everyone who has read this book has come back to buy copies for their own loved ones. It is truly that wonderful.

Excellent reflections on how to live a satisfying, gratifying life, looking not only at one's self and living only for one's self but looking at and living with those around you. It reminded me of Picasso's beautiful painting:Hands with Bouquet - you cannot tell which hand is offering and which is receiving the bouquet - both are doing both. That's life. It's a gift offered and received/accepted. The challenge is to keep the bouquet fresh and beautiful. Gratitude does that. It's a prayer in itself.

M. J. Ryan writes about what gratitude is and how expressing gratitude in our lives can increase the amount of joy we experience. Whether you agree with what is said in the book or not, it would be worthwhile to pull out one of the ways that she suggests for expressing gratitude and trying it in your own life to see what if any difference it makes in your life or in the lives of those around you. I think that you may be hooked.

One of my favorite little books! I've got three of M.J. Ryan's books and this continues to be my favorite. I use it in my own gratitude practice, and also teach from it to other cancer survivors.

Looking for small book with huge impact on how you think about gratitude, this is it!
