After her death in 1712, it became Mary's purpose to somehow "awaken" in the mind and spirit of one of her future descendants in order to reestablish The Strong Witch Society. The author is that grandchild.What unfolds on the pages of this book is a roller coaster of supernatural events and 'lessons' designed with the express purpose of calling together the remaining Strong Witches in order to divert an impending world disaster. BUT there is more to it than that. Just WHO are these "Strong Witches" really, and where did they originally come from? Are they even human? And are they living among humans today here on Earth? Readers interested in the subject of witchcraft, perhaps from a historical perspective, or maybe as Wiccans, or even those who have a taste for the occult, will be attracted to this book by its title and skillfully designed cover. And you'll get a bit of all of the above.

Also, the primary subject of the book, Mary Bliss Parsons, is a real historical figure, a woman who was accused and prosecuted for witchcraft in the late 1600s, according to court records filed in Boston. The author, Din Parsons, is her actual great grandson.

And so many readers who are familiar with books on witchcraft will be expecting to read more of the same, but the author rather quickly launches into all new and unexpected territory, and this will challenge the reader, to say the least.

Many will have their credibility challenged confronting the grand vision Parsons outlines. Some may even scoff, while those with wide-open minds might ... just might ... believe that Parsons is onto something significant here. The author himself even offers the caveat that many people will consider this is a work of fiction, which he says it is not.

But that's what's good about this book, and why I give it five stars. Those interested in contemplating the "ultimate issues" of life, the universe and reality, will find much fodder for discussion upon reading this book. Parsons writes well in an easy lucid style, not boorishly dry and intellectual, but accessable to all.

I have just finished reading The Strong Witch Society, Volume 1, of The Diary of Mary Bliss Parsons and it is absolutely the most wonderful - as in "wonder-filled" - book I have read in a long time! The book is marketed as fiction but as one reads along it becomes quite evident that it isn't. There is something more than meets the eye with this plot. I can't wait for Volume 2 to come out so I can see where all of this is leading, but I predict this will be a mega-seller not only because of the incredible storyline but because it includes the reader in the plot. Maybe I'm one of the lost "Strong Witches" out here in reader land! Would this ever make a great movie! Thank you DH Parsons! Please hurry with Volume 2!
