I'm emphatic about a black child having a doll that reflects who she is, Garrett says. When a young child is playing with a doll, she is mimicking being a mother, and in her young, impressionable years, I want that child to understand that there's nothing wrong with being black. If black children are force-fed that white is better, or if that's all that they are exposed.

I purchased this book for some research I am doing on a particular doll. I opened the book to see that it was personally signed; I began reading from the first page and couldn't put it down. Very interesting and informative.

I was looking for information about a doll that I have had since childhood, value, history, etc. I found a lot of the information that I was looking for, plus more! This book not only gives values, but for some of the dolls tells more. The book was shipped from the Author, and she had autographed it, which was an added bonus. This book is informative plus entreating reading.

Incredible is the only word I can come up with when I think, talk about or read this book. Debbie has gathered, information, pictures, backrounds and wonderful presentation that it is hard for me to put this book down.Debbie's first book was the third book I added to my collection and now this book is the fourth. I use to spend a lot of time on the computer trying to get information about the dolls that I have aquired but now I can just sit in the comfort of my easy chair and read on and on and on. Boy does time fly. Thanks Debbie and I applaud you for all your hard work and I will enjoy it for a very long time. Rose Hawkins

This is Debbie Behan Garrett's second book and is just as good, if not better than her first book The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls because there's more in it. Debbie has done an excellent job of listing and categorizing black dolls for the novice to experienced collector.
