Mightier Than the Sword by Michael Heseltine

Mightier Than the Sword book. Mightier than the Sword. Aaahhhhhhh!!! I just want to yell NO, please don't end the book yet! I actually did yell. I don't think that I can wait another year to find out what happens. This series is wonderful and engaging, I couldn't put it down. The only time I wasn't reading was when I fell asleep reading.

Mightier than the Sword opens with an IRA bomb exploding during the MV Buckingham's maiden voyage across the Atlantic – but how many passengers lose their lives? When Harry Clifton visits his publisher in New York, he learns that he has been elected as the new president of English PEN, and immediately launches a campaign for the release of a fellow author, Anatoly Babakov, who's imprisoned in Siberia. Babakov's crime? Writing a book called Uncle Joe, a devastating insight into what it was like to work for Stalin.

He has more experience with explosives than I do. He spent two years of his life planting them at the feet of advancing Germans. When Harry stepped into the corridor he was distracted by the sight of an elderly man disappearing in the direction of the grand staircase. Then perhaps it’s time to find out what it is. The captain stepped out of the cabin and made his way quickly down the corridor, stopping only when he reached cabin 119. Colonel Scott-Hopkins responded to the knock on the door far more quickly than Giles had done a few minutes earlier. Do you have a bomb-disposal expert in your team? Sergeant Roberts.

The famous proverb ‘Pen is Mightier than the Sword’ was first written by Edward Bulwer- Lytton, which later became highly popular across the world. Everyone knows that a sword is a weapon with sharp edge while pen is a writing instrument with no edge. But the power of the pen is extremely greater than a sword. A book written in pen makes it powerful and worth reading. Not every book is useful as some may teach wrong lessons; some books may be restricted or forbidden. So, it’s the pen which makes the book powerful. Such mighty, the pen is! The power of pen can also be understood from the fact that one incorrect answer written in the answer sheet during exams, tests, etc might fall heavily on us.

Its meaning: The proverb The Pen is Mightier than the Sword means that the writers of the world invisibly exercise greater influence upon people than soldiers. The proverb acknowledges that we often think violence (‘the sword’) is a source of strength. But, this proverb states, it is actually the art of writing that is stronger. The proverb celebrates the power of writing. The sword has been used sometimes to remove evils and bring about good. Abraham Lincoln fought to abolish slavery, an evil system, which ruled over America and many other countries. The use of the sword for an aggressive purpose is a great crime. However, for a good purpose, it may be good to a degree. However, the pen far surpasses it in its power of doing good to all human beings.

Brendan didn’t knock on the cabin door, just turned the handle and slipped inside, looking back as he did so to be sure no one had seen him. He didn’t want to have to explain what a young man from cabin class was doing in an elderly peer’s room at that time of night.

Pen is definitely mightier than sword. The biggest example is our Holy Prophet (. H) though he was an illetrate person but he knew everything a man should. He never used the sword to force people to embrace islam as he knew that violence can never make anything better though the people were his enemies and all of this was proved by the Quran the divine scripture. It was this Book that won the hearts of the mankind and which tells the truth it is therefore said that killing or murdering someone is a crime isnt it this is based from our Holy Book, The QURAN

If the sword were indeed mightier than the pen, then the recent Iraq War would have actually ended after the two months that brilliant warfighters took the country and before inept politics left the country, broken, leaderless, in rebellion and with no good options left. Why is pen mightier than sword? Let's look at it with a little different perspective. Book are the best way to learn about the places where we can't travel to, in person. Books take us to a journey having no boundaries. That's it this how it can be explain in better wa. opr you got it.

The Power of a pen is Mightier than the Sword. The power that the written word carries is far more harmful and damaging than a sword. At best the sword can only cause physical harm - that too by force. Whereas the written word is strong enough to influence many minds at a time - influence to the extent of even giving rise to revolutions and agitations against unjust, unfair governance. Several important events in history have been the result of the powerful writings of the leaders of those times.
