Grounding for the metaphysics of morals by Immanuel Kant

Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals (German: Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten; 1785; also known as the Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals, Grounding of the Metaphysics of Morals and the Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals) is the first of Immanuel Kant's mature works on moral philosophy and remains one of the most influential in the field.

The goal of the Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals is to develop a clearer understanding of moral principles, so that people may better avert distractions. Several general principles about moral duties may be advanced. First, actions are moral if and only if they are undertaken for the sake of morality alone (without any ulterior motive)

Immanuel Kant was an 18th-century philosopher from Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). He's regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of modern Europe & of the late Enlightenment. His most important work is The Critique of Pure Reason, an investigation of reason itself. It encompasses an attack on traditional metaphysics & epistemology, & highlights his own contributi Immanuel Kant was an 18th-century philosopher from Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia)  . He asked if an object can be known to have certain properties prior to the experience of that object.

Groundwork for the. Metaphysics of Morals. Kant’s little book of 1785 is one of the most signicant texts in the history of ethics. It has been a standard of reference-sometimes a model to be devel-oped and expanded on, sometimes a target of criticism-for moral philoso-phers from the German idealist and German Romantic traditions, for Vic-torians of the utilitarian school such as Mill and Sidgwick, for later British idealists such as Green and Bradley, for the neo-Kantians, for twentieth-century philosophers.

a metaphysic of nature before real (empirical) natural science, and,a metaphysic of morals before practical anthropology. Each of these two branches of metaphysics must be carefully cleansed of everything empirical, so that we can know how much pure reason can achieve in each branch, and from. what sources it creates its a priori teaching. of morals must be cleansed in this way, no matter who the. metaphysicians of morals are going to be. · -whether they will.

Stupid book on ethics and it fits with the oddball classes it is intended for! Don't waste money on it.

This is a powerful book about the rationale of a moral philosophy. For all of you who are not familiar with Kant, he is by no means an easy read. If you plan on getting this book plan on being engaged fully in the book. Some of the thoughts reveberate in your mind for months afterword. Kant breaks it down to pure logic and sets forth a notion of the categorical imperative. Check it out if you are into thought... and lots of it.

While "Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals" is an interesting read, this is a poor translation. Beyond that though the formatting of the book is not of a quality appropriate to the price. The photo on the cover is pixelated as though it were poorely resized. The font is ridiculously small without clear delineation of new paragraphs or new chapters. Furthermore, there are no page numbers, an essential for an academic text. I urge you, either by a different version of this book is you want a hard copy, or find for free online!
