Touched with Fire was written long ago, it seems, but reaches even further into the past to examine the unique place Manic-Depression has had throughout history in an objective manner. One of the keys is that Dr. Jamison addresses the taboo subject of Mania having 'beneficial' effects along with detrimental ones. The nature of the illness is also one that causes the afflicted to occasionally rise to prominence due to the properties of the manic state where they may not have had the momentum and 'fire' were they not of the afflicted. This topic is personal for me, but there.

This book is a collection of stories concerning the early pioneers in the 20th century Pentecostal/Charismatic renewal. Author names such as Smith Wigglesworth, John, G. Lake and Alexander Dowie may be known to many. The rest of the stories were written by or about the testimony of people with less prominence, but no less impacting experiences. It's always neat to read about trail blazers, but when the trails carved out of the spiritual wilderness involve the working of the Holy Spirit, the pleasuremeter goes off the scale for me.
Very inspiring and interesting book...
