Professor Thomas's book is most valuable but its value to the student will be increased when he, the student, realizes that it is a guide to information rather than a guide to principles. It contains seventeen articles, covering progress in most of the 'hard core' branches of plant physiology and extending into a few less frequented pathways. There is also a new departure in the form of a general article by A. L. Kursanov on recent work in plant physiology in the . A more specialized article by W. S. Iljin on drought resistance and xerophytism is promised for next year.
