Calculus and Analytic Geometry: With Supplementary Problems, Classic Edition by George B. Thomas

I bought a copy of this Calculus and Analytic Geometry and the book is full of detailed mathematically rigorous proof perfect for those who want to challenge their knowledge of functional analysis or who just want a really thorough introduction to the concepts of calculus. Warning: This book is deprecated for a reason. Many schools do not include this text in their curriculum to the advanced nature of this text. If you need Calculus for your engineering or science work, Thomas is a natural choice.

Intended for self-paced and laboratory settings, these books are an excel- lent complement to the text. Exploring Calculus with Mathematica, by James K. Finch and Millianne Lehmann of the University of San Francisco. Learning calculus is not the same as learning arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. In those subjects, you learn primarily how to calculate with numbers, how to simplify algebraic expressions and calculate with variables, and how to reason about points. lines, and figures in the plane.

Summary: The best Thomas & Finney, from MIT, set the standard for Calculus texts with this book. It is a book by mathematicians for mathematicians, and is a must-have for anyone seriously devoted to the pursuit of math. As a student, I found it to be very helpful.

Excellent product, excellent service.

The book's condition greatly exceeded expectations. It shows no wear. It is an old text but one with very little use.

It is a great book, but I should have purchased the 10th edition rather than the 5th! The chapter explanations could be better, but this is a text book to be used in class with an instructor. I am supplementing the book with another text that goes into more extensive explanations, but both books follow the same material

I have checked again today and found the item outside our unit, The mail box that we have is too small for the book to be left inside as stated by the delivery service provider.
The book is good but received late.

A very substantial text with coverage of all the topics. Good exercises. Could use more detailed explanations and better use of color.

It covers all the topics one would see in their calculus series but at a much higher level. The problems are difficult and the explanations complete. It is a great reference text for those who have completed their calculus series in the past and use it regularly. I would not recommend this text for someone trying to rekindle 30-year old calculus knowledge or, similarly, the beginner.
This is a million times better than the new edition (13 as of this posting). If you love math and want something more challenging, I would recommend this book.
