The Sphinx of Driz
Unfortunately this book misses the mark. It is a great concept and could have been excellent, but it is plagued by countless errors in the text. It is incredibly verbose and goes into too much detail for the question prompt. Many times, it doesn't even answer the question. It has numerous spelling errors, and sometimes they lifted portions of the answers straight from the source. (I discovered this because I often have to go to the source to figure out what they are trying to communicate.) Many times the numbers of the citations from the original text were copied as well! (I.e. a random "34" will follow a sentence when there are no citations in this book.) Really can't recommend this book. I would be embarrassed to have my name on this book. You'd be better off just looking the topics up on your own than buying this book.
Fast Lovebird
I thought it would be great having a quick review of the previous years topics instead of having to look up my missed questions and find the answers in Fiser or Sabiston. But there is waaaay too much information in this book for a quick review. Instead of bullet points and high-yield information, each topic has a historical review, descriptions of all the major studies, and it's written in paragraph form so it's hard to skim. It wastes time explaining things a senior surgery resident would already know like the definition of refeeding syndrome, but then doesn't describe which part of renal transplant leads to lymphocele formation. I should have just copied the topic list and looked them up on my own.

It is a great adjuvant for your study. It is focus on treatment with very relevant topics for the senior exam. Good Job!
