To determine if contrast-enhanced (CE) MRI of intracranial lesions benefits from time-resolved MR angiography (MRA) during contrast agent injection. For 126 patients with suspected intracranial lesions undergoing routine CE MRI at . T (N 88) or . T (N 38), time-resolved CE MRA (three-dimensional time-resolved imaging of contrast kinetics ) was performed during injection of the routine gadolinium (Gd) dose of . mmol/kg . This opened doors for many new applications in non-invasive vascular imaging, including simultaneous anatomic and functional analysis of many vascular pathologies including arterio-venous malformations.
In addition, multiple non-invasive angiographic techniques (CT and MR angiography) and functional MRI sequences (diffusion, perfusion, and ted imaging) are discussed. A detailed knowledge of the quality and exact angioarchitecture of pediatric vascular pathologies as well as their impact on the cerebral hemo-dynamics is essential to guide and monitor treatment options and to predict functional outcome.
