The Community College ESL class I am teaching (Spring 2009) read and reviewed this novel. The book was very popular with almost all of the students, and they thought it would be exciting to share their ideas about it. Read their group reviews below:

These opinions are from group 1] whose members are:
Araceli E, Gloria A, Ada J, Gloria B and Linda S.

Our opinions about the book take in consideration the following: corruption, romance, suspense, mystery, depression and reality.
The story engaged us when Dick tried discovering the whole secret in the company. One person was captured when Keith had a secret behind so he used Vish and Molly to kick Dick out of the company.
This story was interesting for us because it is a real life story and these issues happened in a company but it could also happen anywhere else.
The way the book was written was excellent for our level because the vocabulary was easy to follow. This novel described every single detail about what happened to real people. Each person had the destiny that they choose. This story was easy to understand for Non-native English speaking people like us and also provided good knowledge.

The best part about this novel was when Dick got his 3rd marriage and made a partnership with Ramu. Another person's opinion was that the best part was when Dick received the letter from Ramu when he found the secret about Keith's child. Other students said that the best part of the book was when Dick talked to Lakshmi about the secret and when Lakshmi said to Dick "don't do that, let God do his job". Another student suggested that the best part of the book was chapter 16 where everything happened like solutions, happiness and sadness about their lives.

Everybody would like to read another book from this author. Our opinion is that this novel is not good just for ESL students but for all the people who really enjoy reading about real life.

We are a group from a high ESL College class. We've been reading the novel "He knows too much," by Alan Marley. We also found this book easy to read for anyone especially for new English learners that would like to read. Furthermore, it is a very interesting book that we would recommend to any ESL students that want to read and would like to get better at their grammar and reading for English.

What we learned about the book is more vocabulary words to learn, but really if it came down to our lives then we did not learn much for life experience. Moreover, many things happen in the story, that happens in real life. Also, talks about how money change people but at the end it does not really help at all.

HE KNOWS TOO MUCH

The main character in this novel is Dick who tries to discover a secret from his Company, everything is around him, his love, his depress and his angry. This happened when he was working in an Indian Company; things occur in a stranger way, like "his early retirement". This history is very attractive and interesting because is a real history about issues who really take place in our works, not only in this company.

This novel describe every single detail about what happened in real people life: problems, injustices, corruptions, etc. at the end life is just our payment for our mistakes. The best part is in chapter 16, at this time everything came: solutions, happiness and sadness about their lives. We recommended this novel because is attractive to read, if you start reading you have to finish because you can't stop reading. This writing is not only for ESL students is for everyone who has some background in English and who really enjoy to read a realistic books. This book remind you how hard it is to survive when people are cruel and unkind.

The story "He knows to much" by Alan Maley presents a web of corruption at Trakton Company in India. It is a story that keeps you awake from the first page until the last. The conflict presented in the book keep you moving back and forward between England and India. The corruption conflict was possible base on an affair between the boss of Indian plant of Trakton Company and the wife of Vish, an office manager at Trakton Company. Dick, the general manager discovered the entire corruption and ways how Vish and his wife used it in their advantage. Usually, this web of corruption happens in big companies with plants across the world. Moreover, the story looks like a real one that happened at Trakton Company. The happy end of this story makes the reader feel better because the triumph of goods over evil. For some non native English speakers it is easy to read through, for others its time consuming moving back forward in the book reading the glossary for a better understanding.

Actually I don't like this books' story, because from the first 3 chapter I can know what the main character want to do, the revenge. And the worst is that I understand the motivation of why those guys treat the main character so bad and unfair before the author show me all the evidences and start the detection. It's really a disaster for a book like this. Finally I only can finishing reading the book without any mystery. The only things I haven't expected is the main character's new lover and the relationship between them. So I have to say this book is just fine, not as great as I expect.

This fiction is very exciting and fast-moving stories. It has a good mixture of subject such as friend, controversy, love, and revenge. I am full of wonder about a mystery of corruption. Moreover, scene of this fiction is between England and India, therefore, I know a various culture in these countries. In addition, I like the protagonist who try every possible way to search for the truth behind dismission. Besides, I like the determination to choose between love and revenge. Accordingly, this fiction is suitable for students who like the investigation and improvement their English language skills.
