Deathwatch RPG: First Founding

First Founding is a supplement for the Deathwatch RPG, one of the four products lines in Fantasy Flight Games’ Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay series. Like the Deathwatch core book, First Founding has a beautiful layout, and I did not observe any layout errors. The graphics were plentiful (without overly limiting the text), and include both full-page spreads and well-placed insets. The art is consistent with the style and flavor of the graphic design.

NOTICE:: As of 9/9/16, FFG announced that the contract with GW has "expired" and they will no longer be producing anymore 40K or WFB products. We've got until Feb. 28 of '17 to stock up, and then all of their products with GW's IP will be removed from the catalogues. It seems that the 40K RPG lines are currently and officially dead until/unless GW finds a new contract to carry on the legacy or builds an in-house team to do it.

Deathwatch - First Founding. 146. Publication Date. Data Imported into 40krpgtools. The First Founding Legions were crafted by the Emperor himself in the image of his twenty Primarchs. They forged the Imperium in bloody combat as they waged the Great Crusade across the galaxy. Many Space Marines fell to the maligned seduction of Chaos during the Horus Heresy, but those that stayed loyal formed the base from which all Space Marine Chapters would be created. Those Chapters that still hold the loyalist Legionsâ?™ names and colours are the oldest and the most revered of all the Adeptus Astartes.

Deathwatch: First Founding. November 17, 2011 by beerogre. First Founding! Here's what Fantasy Flight Games have to say about it: First Founding is all about those Space Marines who owe their name to the legendary First Founding Legions. As we made this book, we worked to explore the relationships between Battle-Brothers of these different chapters. First Founding contains an entire chapter devoted to the experience of joining the Deathwatch, and serving along Space Marines of all different backgrounds for the first time, helping players to get even more personally involved with their character during his service in the long watch. Finally, First Founding contains a gripping adventure that sees the Kill-team working alongside forces from three different Space Marine chapters. pdf is being hosted on rp. em. I ordered this and the Deathwatch core rule book from amazon. This book showed up first.

If you are just a 40k background (fluff) junkie like me, get this book. This book goes over a few of the less popular loyalist Space Marine chapters of the first founding; Salamanders, Iron Hands, White Scars and Raven Guard.

The book is physically of excellent quality. The art pages are on thick paper. It is well written and really provides some insight on the 4 highlighted chapters. The rest of the book contains some more Deathwatch RPG rules for other Space Marine chapters and even goes over some Chaos stuff. I can't speak to that as much because I don't have the core rulebook yet.

Another great buy. This book has everything you need to get more options to the Core Chapters in the Deathwatch Core book, allowing you to account for Chapter specific classes in the 40K game. Item came faster then expected, and was in perfect condition.

.... enough said this is for space marine lovers. if your playing party like playing the odd droppod slash, bolt and fire cleaning squad, then there is great material here for the characters. it is needed as the Core rulebook is somewhat limmited is the aspect of space marine chapters specialization etc....

Great book for my group to use for player options and reference. Just like all Fantasy Flight products, the product is made of great quality.

If you are looking for a great supplement to an even better game, this is the one for you. It gives greak baxkground stories for some of the original chapters of space marines. One downside I see with this book is not enough attention is paid to the Iron Hands space marines. I'm not even a fan of the Iron Hands but it would have been cool if they were paida little more attention to in the 40k universe.

I really enjoy this book. New chapters to play, new gear, talents, etc. But the good part is the history and lore that it gives. Really good for those who haven't read many of the novels, especially the Horus Heresy, and still good for those who have.

This will be short since I really don't see the point in reviewing this sort of product...

Either you know 40k and will doubtlessly purchase this book or not based on that knowledge, or you don't...in which case nothing anyone says will make you even remotely interested in this resource.

Great book...now let me add some stars to help balance that other skewed review...
I really had high hopes for this book. A book with all 18 legions? This book should have been awesome...it istn... Make no mistake it looks great but it is largely fluff with nice art. Any GM (or player for that matter) that has a bit of 40k knowledge could have created the rules for any of the loyal legions. As for the traitor legions there is little there you couldnt get off a 40k wiki. The only plus side is Amazon offers a significant discount on the bool. It is NOT worth the 39.99 price tag. You should really only pick this up if you are a die hard Deathwatch fan.
