My First Steps Into Reading is a great series for introducing your young child to the letters of the alphabet! Each book in the series focuses on one letter and there is a cute little boy or girl character called Little (insert letter) who is the primary focus. This character has a box that he or she wants to fill with objects beginning with their letter. The story uses pictures and words in the sentence structure helping the early reader make the connections between the word and the item.

This book is not entertaining to my son at all. We loved the B book, so we got a few more letters. None of them have a sensible story like the B Book.

This isn't the best or most engaging series of books. They are terribly similar from one letter to the next, and a bright child will quickly be bored of them. I was given a partial set, so I purchased the last two books to complete it, but I'm not overly impressed.

This book was chosen for my Great Grand daughter whose name begins with E. This little one will soon be two. She has a twin brother whose name begins with J. He will also receive a J book. What a wonderful way to begin teaching the alphabet! Wonderful artwork as well along with pointing out and finding all the objects on each page which begin with the letters E and J.

We purchased this series to help my oldest learn to read. His Kindergarten teacher had told us he would never learn to read. The books are simply written and maintain the same plot line through all the books. The main character is always "Little (letter of the book." Each character has a box and decides to fill it with items that start with that letter. My oldest (now 8) reads on the 6th grade level with full comprehension. These books have done wonders in our house. I'm sorry to find that this series is now so hard to come by. I will definately hold on to these for my other children and then for their children.
