Nicolas Linnear must face a dangerous foe that has a link to his past. This mysterious foe also is determined to exact revenge on all the people that have impacted the outcome of their life. This sets in motion the thriller that is faced paced and set in both the U.S. and Japan.

Linnear is a martial arts expert and has a life that is situated between the free wheeling society of the U.S. and the structured Japanese culture. He is from both worlds and continually struggles to find his place. This series is as much about that struggle as it is about the opposition that he faces. This is a great series for any that enjoy a story set in Japan. Great series!
This book certainly surpassed the original. A gripping action thriller set against the backdrop of the Cold War. It had all the right ingredients: action, violence, history, sex and intrigue. All the characters were very well-written and the plot fit neatly together. A very solid work and all the justification needed for me to read then next one.
The Sinners from Mitar
A brilliantly written novel , leading the reader into the centre of the Asian mind where duty and obligation dictate everyday life. Filled with breathtaking action scenes, suspense, romance, and revenge, all blended together in a delicious cocktail that will satisfy even the connoisseur.
The author's knowledge of the Japan's colorful past and cultural customs makes this read a lot like historical fiction rather than an action thriller. V. Lustbader never disappoints.
Great story but my only criticism with Kindle books is you can't easily go to the glossary to see the translations of the Japanese words. It would be more enjoyable. However the story is great and the character development awesome!
I like reading van Lustbader's descriptions of the Japanese people. After a number of years, I am rereading the entire Nicholas Linnear series and enjoying every one.
I gave up about half way through this book. I had high hopes for the Linnear series but this one was so convoluted and wordy that it simply wore me out. Far too little action and far too much pschobabble.
I had read this series in the distant (so distant there was no cell phns or tablets) past & enjoyed it so much I thought I would put them on my iPad!! They were great then & just as great (if not more so now)!
