Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite suspense writers and this novel will keep me buying more yet. While I did figure out the whodunit, it wasn't until right before it was revealed. I was kept in suspense and I love that. It's why it's my favorite genre. Without giving much away, one thing I did figure out pretty quickly was the heart (it's in the title after all). However, it seems that just when the romance may start, the book ends. Although most loose ends were tied, it kind of seemed an abrupt ending. Could there possibly be a series in this? MHC doesn't usually do that but who knows? It wouldn't be a bad idea.

A real surprise ending. I liked the way the author summed up the ending with multiple villains. BIG also usually the author describes the characters, especially the women as being 50 or 60 and looking like a twenty year old plus their bodies having perfect proportions.It does't work like that Mary only on some occasions. Couldn't some of the older characters be amusing and intellectual without being of movie star quality. You know Mary like a Judy Dench or a Maggie Smith. They aren't beauties, but they are certainly believable.

How can I explain the emotions that I have after finishing a novel by Mary Higgins Clark? I start reading knowing that the tension and suspense will carry through the whole novel. I thoroughly enjoyed every word and can't wait to start her next novel.

I have read all of Mary Higgins Clark. I have had the honor of meeting her in Colorado Springs when I lived there. She was at a book signing. She is a wonderful person. She does a great job with her books. Just Take My Heart is just another example of her fine work. When I started this one I figured I would have it done in a week. Boy was I wrong. I finished it in a day. I just could not put this one down. Her court room made me feel like I was sitting in that court room. Parts made me hold my breath until I read what happened. I know books take the author a long time to write, but I sure wish she could pump them out as fast as I can read them.
To be honest, he books are my first choice. I have read them more than one time and still enjoyed them the second time around.

Very enjoyable reading. It is one of the few books l've felt like the ending wasn't rushed, it was logical. As always I would have liked the story to keep on going but didn't feel cheated when the final drama played out.
Sure hope this is made into a made for T.V. movie and even a drama series could be really good!

I bought this paperback for my closest friend, who is wheelchair-bound with MS. She collects all of the Mary Higgins Clark novels and re-reads them. The plot of this story was catching and entertaining as well as the sub plots. Her face always lights up when I bring her a new book by this prolific author. As this author is an expert storyteller, she, of course, has a lot to live up to when a new book comes out. Compared to other stories, such as Love Music, Loves to Dance, or Little Girls in Blue, it is not as intriguing.
Mary Higgins Clark's latest book is a fast-paced, entertaining page-turner. Cleverly plotted with twists and turns in true MHC-style.

Broadway star Natalie Raines accidentally discovers who killed her former roommate. A few days after the revellation Natalie is found dead in her home and her soon-to-be ex-husband Gregg Aldrich is suspected of the murder. But nothing happens until two years later when career criminal Jimmy Houston claims that Aldrich had hired him to kill his wife.

Assistant prosecutor Emily Wallace is assigned the case, and while she is hard at work preparing, a seemingly well-meaning neighbour offers to take care of her dog. Greatfully Emily accepts and even gives him a key to her home. However, after a while the neighbour starts appearing somewhat creepy and soon Emily begins to fear for her life.

The case is high profile and we follow the developments, not the least the brilliantly written courtroom scenes.

There are many interesting people involved in this drama. The characterization is excellent and the question of "who did it" well enough and long enough hidden to keep the reader awake until the wee hours.

What made me hold back the last star and only give the book a four, is that it does taste a tiny bit of routine. As the truth is revealed, everything fits almost too well and from the moment the suspect is hinted at, the solution is obvious and the final pieces of the puzzle neatly falling into place.

Although nothing original, great entertainment and a typical MHC mystery which will certainly delight all her fans.
