The Cinderella Murder book description. Television producer Laurie Moran is delighted when the pilot for her reality drama, Under Suspicion, is a success. Mary Higgins Clark, Alafair Burke. The Cinderella Murder. The second book in the Under Suspicion series, 2014. For Andrew and Taylor Clark. 1. It was two o’clock in the morning. Right on time, Rosemary Dempsey thought ruefully as she opened her eyes and stirred. Whenever she had a big day ahead she would inevitably wake up in the middle of the night and start worrying that something would go wrong. It had always been like this, even when she was a child. And now, fifty-five years old, happily married for thirty-two years, with one child, beautiful and gifted nineteen-year-old Susan, Rosemary could not be anything but a constant worrier, a living Cassandra.

THE CINDERELLA MURDER is a surefire puzzle. Clark and Burke have put so many possible (. legitimate) suspects in the mix that just when one leaps off the page and we think Okay, it HAS to be this person, another rises to the surface to compete for attention. To me, this is the fun of deciphering a good mystery. And while I enjoyed being stumped while trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together, there were parts of the story that felt slightly forced, namely the (somewhat) romantic interest between Laurie and Alex. The possibilities are endless and should make for satisfying reading for mystery and thriller fans alike.

A first collaboration between the MWA Grand Master and the best-selling author of the Ellie Hatcher series follows the launch of a reality television series for unsolved crimes and a case involving a murdered UCLA student. (suspense). Simultaneous.

'The Cinderella Murder' is the really the 2nd book of the Under Suspicion series. 'I've Got You Under My Skin', being the 1st book. With tv producer Laurie Moran who's tv show helps solve cold murder cases.

This book picks up shortly after previous book ' I've Got You Under My Skin'. This is about an unsolved 20 year old case of a murdered UCLA student, that Laurie decides to take on for her reality tv show. There are multiple suspects who all have their own agenda.

This is a fast moving book. We get good look at all the characters on this case, including flashbacks during that time period. All the main characters from previous book are back. We taken at every step of this cold case and follow the clues with are characters.

What I'm enjoying about author Mary Higgins Clark is she lets us really get to know are main characters. She moves book in a quick pace. She writes using small chapters, which I really like. There are many twists and turns. Just when we think got it figured out, a new twist is thrown at us.

As I've stated, this is a fast moving book and is hard to put down. Will not be disappointed. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series 'All Dressed in White'.

I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy mystery/thriller books.

I definitely recommend this book to those who enjoy mystery/thriller books.
Laurie Moran, the producer of The Under Suspicion TV show, decides to tackle a 20-year-old case called the Cinderella Murder. Susan Dempsey, a student at UCLA, was found murdered in the Hollywood Hills on Laurel Canyon Rd. She was found with one shoe on, the other lying about 20 feet from her body, hence the name Cinderella. The story is fast paced and the characters are well written. The only thing I thought was needed for this group in trying to solve this or any cold case was a homicide detective. I find it laughable that they would attempt to do this without the original police file and any evidence the police had. It's still a good read and I want to read the rest of the books in the series.
I pushed myself to finish this book. It moves slowly and I was bored with the idle chatter among characters which was irrelevant to the plot. I have read other Mary Higgins Clark books and enjoyed them but this is a huge disappointment; very predictable early on in the story. If you don't read this, you've missed nothing. I'm left wondering if the collaboration with another author adversely impacted her with this book. So very disappointed.
Clark's style has changed over the years; she used to be especially good at creating an atmosphere that engulfed you and heightened the suspense almost unbearably. In this book she overwhelmed the reader with information and failed to create that atmosphere for which she was so famous. I was disappointed.
Two terrific authors have teamed up to write a new series. While this one is Book 2, it does fine as a stand alone. And as always, recommend starting with I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN. It gives a lot of background on the characters and all those little nuances that make them feel like family.

Under Suspicion is a new TV series .... taking cold cases and presenting them to a television audience in the hope that they can be solved. (Think America's Most Wanted).

Television Producer Laurie Moran finds the next story to showcase on her new program ...The Cinderella Murder ... so named because the young woman who was murdered was only wearing one show.

It's been 30 years and the killer has never been found. Laurie hopes if she can get all the victims' family and friends together, the killer will show his or her face.

There are several suspects ... her boyfriend who cheated on her .... the two roommates who have secrets they've never told, the computer nerd who had a huge crush on her, the movie producer she was on her way to audition for the night she was killed.

I have never been disappointed with Mary Higgins Clark .. her stories have plenty of suspense, with a tiny bit of romance. This was well-written and I was surprised at the ending. Easy to read. Very enjoyable.

Highly recommend!
As always, Ms. Clark's books are great. I don't think I've read one of her books that has disappointed me. She always has a new plot, not like some where one book has the same plot as the previous one but with different characters. I will always buy Ms. Clark's books and always be satisfied.
Nice entry to the Under Suspicion series. Laurie Moran is the producer of a cold case television series called “Under Suspicion.” Not only is the show successful, but it brought closure to Laurie as the first show solved the murder of her husband. Now Laurie has become aware of a twenty-year-old case where a budding actress attending UCLA was found murdered in a park, near the home of a film director, with one shoe on – hence the Cinderella murder.

Laurie would like nothing more to solve this case on her show. And there are plenty of suspects, who agree to appear on the show to clear their names. To not do it would seem suspicious. What Laurie finds is a gold mine of eclectic characters with lot of heretofore unknown secrets. The mounting pressure puts Laurie and her team in danger, but gets her closer to the sophisticated suspect. This is a nice, quick-paced, easy-reading story – not profound, but a good effort.
