Burn Factor by Kyle Mills

Many of my fans considered it too ‘light’ and too violent, though. And worse, I got some nasty letters from readers who felt I was promoting violence against women and portraying them as victims, despite the fact that the protagonist of the book was a very strong female character. People even started asking my wife if she was afraid to live with me. So, in short, Burn Factor was my first and last foray into this genre.

Burn Factor is big on implausible and illogical plot twists, and small on characterizations. We never learn enough about Quinn to understand why she puts her career (not to mention her life) in jeopardy, even as evidence of a massive cover-up continues to mount and her boyfriend, a CIA agent, turns out to be a willing accomplice to the. I started reading Kyle Mills after the announcement that he would be completing Vince Flynn's final book. For whatever reason, the characters in this book just are not relatable, do not have any depth. I was very disappointed in the way the plot unfolded, and the seemingly bad decisions the main characters made at every turn. 3 people found this helpful.

Burn Factor is an edge-of-the seat thriller that is somehow fascinating yet repulsive at the same time. It's fascinating to find out how this sick, sadistic madman is going to be beaten, as I'm sure you understand, he must. Another pick from the Book Swap shelf at work - but this one was good! Kyle Mills is a good storyteller who makes you want to keep reading by keeping up a good pace that doesn't give away details too early (too fast) or take too long to build up. I got through 424 pages in about three days, mainly because I wanted to see how he'd finish it. The story is quite gruesome (I don't know many friends I'd actually recommend this book to). Mills' portrayal of how two strangers - a girl and a guy - wo Another pick from the Book Swap shelf at work - but this one was good!

Harper Collins, 16 нояб. From the New York Times bestselling author of Vince Flynn. Bright, young, and ambitious, Quinn Barry desperately wants to be an FBI agent, even as she programs databases in the basement of the J. Edgar Hoover Building. But Quinn's career - and her life - are about to change wildly. I compared this book to Mills' "Fade" and found it lacking. First, the pace was not as fast; second, the story involved the abuse of children in a very graphic way, which I have found offensive and unnecesssary. Пользовательский отзыв - Kirkus. Too bad she's not a more compelling heroine.

That's the premise of Kyle Mills's Burn Factor. Instead of his usual hero, FBI agent Mark Beamon, the author introduces Quinn Barry, a relatively low-level analyst for the agency who stumbles across what at first looks like a glitch.

I have to mention several typos first. Are these ever proof read?
2nd. How did Marin become so physically powerful and fast for a physics scientist.
Why did Pierce not just shoot him in the head after he killed his daughter? How did Marin easily handle 9mm hits at point blank range on his bullet proof vest? This guy was Superman?
Why would the protagonist believe a stranger calling to warn her about Eric make her suddenly go back to distrusting Eric?
Finally, what kind of mind can dream up so many sadistic scenarios?
However, I kept reading just to see how Marin would meet his end.

I rarely find a book that I simply cannot put down. Mills makes the characters leap from the page in terrifying reality. His description of the villains thoughts is reminiscent of a Stephen King novel. One has to wonder how an author can describe such an evil mind without losing their own. This is not a novel for the faint hearted but for us who love an intense thriller it’s a must read.

This book starts slowly, and stays that way until around the half way point. The pace picks up a bit after this, as more and more zigzags are brought into the plot. Despite being a mystery, there are very few action scenes, such as gun fights or similar mayhem. By the time the killer is revealed, the plot accelerates to a gripping finish, with enough action to make up for its lack earlier in the story. My main problem with the book was that the lack of drama until the very end, caused it to never reach the level of a captivating book that could not be put down. Another irritant was the large number of typos.
Stylish Monkey
Kyle Mills has been able to successfully pick up Vince Flynn's story lines. It had been rumored that another author was considered to collaborate with Flynn on future books but I believe the Mitch Rapp character is very well done by Mills. Looking forward to more books.

I started reading Kyle Mills after the announcement that he would be completing Vince Flynn's final book. The first two I read, Free Fall and Storming Heaven were very good, but I can only give Burn Factor three stars at the most. For whatever reason, the characters in this book just are not relatable, do not have any depth. I was very disappointed in the way the plot unfolded, and the seemingly bad decisions the main characters made at every turn. I will probably try one more Mills book, and hope it is better than this one.
Wooden Purple Romeo
Start off with Quinn Barry, young and attractive female computer programmer and want-to-be FBI agent who is tougher and smarter than she appears. Bring in the puzzle about a cover-up of terrible sex crimes (not too graphically described) by government agents. Then throw in the handsome former child genius now a flawed physicist/artist/hero after years of living under suspicion as a thrill killer of his first love. Then toss them into a non-stop action thriller. Ok, so it not great literature. But it is a good fun read that keeps your interest all the way through. What more could you want. Not one moment of boredom and great entertainment.

Good thriller. Easy reading. fast paced
Thought I'd never get to the end. Was so excited to read what was going to happen next. Keep them coming Kyle.
