This is a fine book if you are looking for an understandable treatment of the fundamental math of quantum mechanics and its application to select, relatively simple, standard problems in quantum mechanics. The derivations presented are clear, intelligent, and thorough. Do you want to read the rest of this article? Request full-text.
The Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics provides a clear exposition of the principles of quantum mechanics and its applications for chemistry students. In easy-to-understand terminology, the reader is taken from the early developments in physics that led to quantum mechanics through topics that are essential to understanding modern chemistry and physics. Only a basic knowledge of calculus and introductory chemistry is required. James E. House is Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at Illinois State University, where he taught for 32 years. His teaching included a wide range of courses in general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical kinetics, and special topics courses in solid state, nuclear, and descriptive chemistry. He also served as Visiting Professor of Chemistry and Advanced Studies at the University of Illinois in 1991 and Visiting Professor at Illinois Wesleyan University in 1997 and 2002.
Home James E. House Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics (Complementary Science). Published by Academic Press, 1998. ISBN 10: 0123567750, ISBN 13: 9780123567758. The book is an excellent introduction to quantum mechanics and quantum chemistry for undergraduate students, written at an intermediate level and therefore very suitable for a one semester course as part of the physical chemistry sequence. In particular, I liked the fact that the author has written the book with a broad multi-disciplinary audience in mind.

Published May 2003 by Academic Press. Quantum mechanics is a branch of science that deals with atomic and molecular properties and behavior of matter on a microscopic scale.
The basic concepts of quantum mechanics are explained in this book in a concise and easy-to-read manner emphasising applications in solid state electronics and modern optics. Following a logical sequence, the book is focused on the key ideas and is conceptually and mathematically self-contained. The fundamental principles of quantum mechanics are illustrated by showing their application to systems such as the hydrogen atom, multi-electron ions and atoms, the formation of simple organic molecules and crystalline solids of practical importance
Fundamentals of Quantum Chemistry book. An introduction to the principles of quantum mechanics needed in physical chemistry. Mathematical tools are presented and developed as needed and only basic calculus, chemistry, and physics is assumed. Applications include atomic and molecular structure, spectroscopy, alpha decay, tunneling, and superconductivity. Mathematical tools are presented and developed as needed and only basic calculus, chemistry, and physics is assumed
