Sara Luck is an author to watch. Her well-developed characters, accurate historical settings, and hot naked men will have readers turning pages. She left behind fame and fortune, and discovered something far more precious: the love of a strong Western man. From the spotlight. The toast of New York’s theater world, Sabrina Chadwick dazzled with her raven-haired beauty and brilliant performances. But her rising star came crashing down after a disastrous night of scandal and betrayal that left the young actress with nothing but a broken heart.

Sara Luck’s debut romance, Susanna’s Choice, is a historical western love story about a plucky female reporter and a San Francisco businessman who uncovers corruption at a silver mine.Susanna Ward Kirkland, a journalist for the Virginia City Pioneer, was raised by Gus and Minnie Kirkland when her parents and her brother died on the wagon train coming West. Her foster father wants her to marry Jesse, his son who…while never doing anything to get into serious trouble…has come close. But, as Gus Kirkland says, “all he needs is a good woman to straighten him out.” She is also told that Jesse knows nothing of this, so she is expected to “win him over.” Out of a sense of obligation, she agrees to do this. But Susanna has met Rab Trudeau. A wealthy businessman who lives in San Francisco, Rab has interests in a silver mine in the Comstock Lode. But unscrupulous mine managers are manipulating the stock prices. They are aided in this by the very paper that employs Susanna, so Rab comes to Virginia City posing as a detective from the Great Western Detective Agency (which he also owns). A strong attraction develops between Susanna and Rab…but there are many obstacles in their path. Can they eventually find happiness together?

I like historical romance novels especially when they are accurate. I loved this about a woman news reporter and how she gets her story. Susanna was adopted when her parents died of cholera on the wagon train West and a family took her in as a 5yr old. Rab and Susanna have a professional relationship but fall in love; then enters his fiance. It is really a great story and I really hated to see it end.

I really love these Frontier romances. Just thinking about how difficult their lives probably were. It must have been hard to find time for love but they did!

If you love historical romance, you must read this one. I loved this book! The perfect mix of danger, conflict, love, romance, and more romance. I love how there is a bit of a history lesson mixed in with the time period of the story. I also love it when a book just sucks you in and you feel like you are there.

In 1878 business mogul Rab Trudeau arrives from San Francisco in Virginia City, Nevada. He poses as a Great Western Detective Agency investigator; a firm he owns. He wants to know who is responsible for illegal silver mine stock dealings as reported by a B.D. Elliot about his Silver Falcon Mine in the Virginia City Pioneer.

Rab rescues reporter Susanna Ward Kirkland from a runaway wagon. They are attracted to one another although he refuses her request for an interview even as accidents seem to be the norm for the newcomer. As they fall in love while trying to solve the mysteries of the mine and the accidents, Rab's Nob Hill fiancé Margaret Worthington and Susanna's future mate Jesse Kirkland the son of the man who rescued her as a child, refuse to give up their intended.

This is a superb Americana romance starring a strong cast especially the lead couple in a vivid setting. The story line focuses on silver fever and the complicated relationship between the affluent businessman with a haunting New Orleans past and the orphan. Fans will enjoy Sara Luck's fabulous late nineteenth century tale of avarice, honor and love.
