There are good people and there are bad people. When the bad people kill the good people, Joe Hammer, an on-again, off-again priest, steps in and kills the bad people on behalf of the good people - and God. Therein lies the general plot of the story. It keeps moving along at a good clip with interesting people. The killings are many and violent. Lots of action earned my attention to the gritty end - and a 4 star rating.

I enjoyed this book very much, it was very interesting and a good read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves western books.
Gravelblade
I found this book to be well written, kept me very interested and had a hard time putting it down. The story line is outstanding, I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I have.
Uaoteowi
Not well-written, some strange repetitiveness, jerky transitions - dwelling on gory details, six-guns and gore do not a "western" make - a good start, maybe.
Ricep
One of the best Westerns that I have read in a while. Very well written with a great story line. It is a good fast fun read.
Zyniam
He got the job done, even though he had to have help. He never gave up or quit trying. I like how he took advantage of the slight breaks from his enemies.
Jairani
Classic good western genre novel where the hero fights insurmountable odds and at the end comes out the victor. I would recommend this book
The wagon has hired a guide to lead them but it will prove to be the biggest mistake of their lives. The guide it turns out is in with a blood thirsty McDonald gang & the majority of the party end up paying with their lives while a handful of the women were more or less taken as slaves & forced to cook & other terrible things even their worst nightmare could not subscribe to.
An old prospector stumbles on what is left of the wagon train & reports his findings to the law in the town of Tiverton. Deputies Joe Hammer & Herbie Bonner, after inspecting the site where the outlaws killed so many, begin the hunt & soon learn why the elusive McDonald gang have escaped the "long arm of the law" & murdered so many innocents.
Excellent story but a warning...it is pretty violent. Not quite as bad as the two previous books I have read by this author but might put some readers off.
