Pride and Fire by JoMarie DeGioia

Pride and Fire by Jo Marie DeGioia in her interesting "Dashing Nobles" series. Can be read as a stand alone. A unique storyline but, I had a hard time liking or connecting with the characters. The story does have intrigue, betrayal, suspense, passion, sexually intensive, blackmail, deceit, violence and romance. Paul didn't want to get married or have any entanglements with Michelle, but after a dance or two cha I enjoyed "Pride and Fire" by JoMarie DeGioia, this is the first book I have read by the author, looks like this is number two in a series, but can be read as a stand alone.

JoMarie DeGioia has been making up stories for as long as she can remember and has spent a lot of years giving voice to the characters in her head. I totally enjoyed reading this book. Storyline was wonderful and characters were fabulous. Great romance and some drama with steamy sex scenes. I will continue to follow this author and i look forward to reading more of this author work.

This is an OK Regency romance, but it is not as good as the first book in the Dashing Nobles series. That is mainly because the H was an a$$ to the h so many times in the story. He is far too proud to admit his father has caused him financial difficulties, and is horrible to the h when she wants to know about it. He won't even accept her dowry, which hurts her -- and he won't share anything except his lust with her. He says he loves her, but he certainly doesn't act like it. And at the end, it irritated me that she forgave him so easily -- she should have made him grovel a LOT, but she basically forgave him before he even apologized. It bothers me that she is supposed to be a strong woman, but she becomes this weak, adoring little mouse whenever he touches her. Why can't romance writers give us a strong woman who doesn't put up with the kind of crap that this H pulled? That's what I'd like to see.

I enjoyed "Pride and Fire" by JoMarie DeGioia and the “Dashing Nobles”. Paul Talbot, Viscount Leed, is set on avoiding the marriage trap and when a year ago he became instantly attracted to Lady Michelle Thomas he knew he was in trouble and avoided her at all costs. Lady Michelle Thomas felt she and Paul had a connection or maybe she just imagined it since he never perused her last year. Michelle actually believed that Paul didn't care for her at all, he gave her cold looks and didn't speak to her. He’s against marring for money and she’s looking for just the right man to marry. Michelle and Paul have had a connection from the very beginning. Michelle disagrees society rules where a woman is to be seen and not heard, she’s a highly intelligent woman who feels her opinions are worthy. Their story is two strong willed and often opinionated characters coming to know each other and their love. Their story is filled intrigue, betrayal, blackmail, romance and passion along the way.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The story was well written and the story line easy to follow. The author drew the reader in and allowed to feel the emotions of her characters. The story had intrigue, suspense, betrayal, some violence, sexual parts, and romance. I will say that I was disappointed with the character Michelle. Her character was intelligent, up on all the current events of the time, she was naïve as the young women of the time, yet she came out stupid. Knowing her cousin as she did, how can an intelligent woman turn to him; it just didn't make sense otherwise as I said the story was well written.

I love how Michelle and Paul find their love of each other, through all the twists and turns they endured together.
I have read literally thousands of romance novels and I have to say this book has the most unlikable hero I've seen. I was very disappointed. He treated his wife like dirt. The way he spoken to her during his temper tantrums was unforgivable and the one scene crossed the line into rape. I love a strong hero but this guy was all about lust with no clue about love. Also, the sex scenes should add to the story not be the story
