Wild, Wild Women! is a musical with book and lyrics by Michael Richmond, and music by Nola York. Based on both the comedy Lysistrata by Aristophanes and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it made its debut in 1981 at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond followed by a further production at the Theatre Royal in Windsor before receiving it’s West End premiere at the Astoria theatre.
In 2018, we revisited and staged a new production of York and Richmond’s wild west comedy, Wild Wild Women. The show is set in Aggroville, where the Clantons and the McLairds are always killing each other, and where hangin’ Judge West and the Earps try and keep control. Things come to a head when the lovely singing nun, Sister Priscilla, is killed by a stray bullet. Alice Tibbs, of the Peaceable Haven Saloon, convinces all the women folk to take part in a love strike to bring the men to their senses

Wild, Wild, Women is a tuneful foot-stompin’, thigh-slappin, outrageously funny musical romp that takes a light-hearted look at the traditional Western. Set in Aggroville, where the Clantons and the McLairds are constantly killing each other, and where hangin’ Judge West and the Earps try to keep control, things come to head when the lovely singing nun, Sister Priscilla, is killed by a stray bullet.
The Wild Party is a musical with a book by Michael John LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe and music and lyrics by LaChiusa. It is based on the 1928 Joseph Moncure March narrative poem of the same name. The Broadway production coincidentally opened during the same theatrical season (1999–2000) as an off-Broadway musical with the same title and source material.
Bushwick, in Brooklyn, as it inches closer to being devoured by Williamsburg, can still look otherworldly in its more remote precincts. How appropriate then to find the quaint musical cum dance party Wild Women of Planet Wongo there on a desolate block at Brooklyn Fire Proof. Not to be confused with the Z-movie Wild Women of Wongo, from 1958, this spoof more recalls the seminal sci-fi cheese-fest Cat-Women of the Moon, from 1953. So familiar are the conventions of such films that regardless of whether you’ve seen them, you sense what you’re going to get here. Start with a Wongotini.
WILD WOMEN OF PLANET WONGO’ When: 8 . Thursday-Friday; 7:30 and 10:30 . Personally I’m a huge fan of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000,’ and that certainly provided a lot of inspiration for this show, says producer and co-writer Dave Ogrin, a New York-based creative who cut his teeth in the music business as a sound and mixing engineer for hip-hop elite like
