M.Y.T.H. Inc.In Action (Myth) by Robert Asprin

mands for "the next Myth book," with each readerbeing sure the books were in existence somewherebecause of the schedule I had so foolishly "com-mitted to" in that introduction. To belabor the obvious, 1 haven't been able towrite at the speed I anticipated at the time. Whilethe popularity of the series and the loyalty of itsreaders is both gratifying and profitable, any pub-lisher can tell you that trying to get a book out ofan author when "it isn't happening" is like push-ing on a rope. inc. in action 3. more, but then he just shrugs and scribbles a littlemore on his pad. Author's Note: I am not a fast writer, I am not a slow writer, I am a half fast writer! R. L. ASPRIN THE FAN MAIL I've received has been pretty much split on the subject of my last Introduction; some found it interesting and insightful, while others thought it was boring and a waste. If you are of the latter group, please feel free to jump ahead directly into the story, since there is nothing in this message you need to know to understand (and, hopefully, enjoy) the book. I, my publishers, and many bookstores and dealers have been flooded with queries and demands for "the next Myth book," with each reader being sure the books were in existence somewhere because of the schedule I had so foolishly "committed to" in that introduction. To belabor the obvious, I haven't been able to write at the speed I anticipated at the time.

It is not as illogical as it sounds as it runs parallel to book 8 (MYTH Nomers and Impervections). Aahz going missing was only one of the crisis which happened, the other being Queen Hemlock's expansion plans in the Dimension of Klah. Re-read in December 2013. in Action is still funny. The series as such benefits from an assortments of POVs and this one is told by Guido, a member of the mob and (one of) Skeeve's bodyguard.

Robert Asprin’s classic fantasy series, My. .Except: Whose side are they on? Queen Hemlock's?

Written by Robert Asprin Format: MP3. An officer and an idio.Guido and Nunzio may not be the brightest bodyguards in the world - but they certainly are faithful. One author that predates the Discworld is Robert Asprin and his MYTH series of books. Inc in Action' is a later book in the series and tells the story of Guido and Nunzio, two henchmen who join the army of Queen Hemlock in the hopes of undermining the kingdom. Action' is a short, succinct book that works for that very reason. It is the first time that I have come across these characters, but they are painted in such broad strokes that this is not really an issue. The story is told from the PoV of henchman Guido, think of him as an intellectual Neanderthal. Fans of the & books will probably glean more from & Action' than I, but even without prior knowledge I was able to enjoy the book as pure entrainment that did not tax my brain or outstay its welcome. One for fans of fantasy curios.

I loved these books in High School & college. The copy on the e-books is terrible. So many errors it detracts from the story. There are typos & clear fails in translating from hard copy to e-books. So much of the humor depends on puns & word plays these errors are a serious fail. Avoid the e-books and get the hard copy.
M.Y.T.H. Inc. In Action (1990) is the ninth Fantasy novel in the Myth series, following Myth-Nomers and Im-Pervections. In the previous volume, Skeeve hunts through Perv for the missing Aahz. He learns much more about Aahz's history and meets Aahz's mother. He offers a reward for information on his scaly friend, gets drunk in a bar, and invests in the plans of a Pervect street peddler.

In this novel, Skeeve is a Klahd from Klah. He is a magician and the partner of Aahz. Now he is the president of M.Y.T.H. Incorporated with his friends as staff and stockholders.

Aahz is a Pervect from Perv. He had been a master magician until he lost his power from a joke. Now he is Skeeve's partner.

Guido is a senior gangster in the Mob. He is now the personal bodyguard of the Great Skeeve.

Nunzio is Guido's cousin and is also a senior gangster. He is now another personal bodyguard of Skeeve.

Tananda is a Trollop from the Trollia dimension. She has green skin and hair and a very voluptuous body. Tanda is Chumley's little sister and an assassin.

Chumley is a Troll from the Trollia dimension. He is also the big brother of Tananda. He uses his Crunch persona to hide his shyness.

Massha is a mechanic from an unknown dimension. She uses devices to produce her magic. Now she is learning real magic from Skeeve as his apprentice.

Gleep is a very young dragon. He can't talk yet, but he has a mean breath of fire.

Queen Hemlock is the consort of King Rodrick of Possiltum. She has visions of conquest.

Big Julie is a retired general on Klah. He had led a huge army for the Mob, but Skeeve offered him a better deal (see Myth-Conceptions).

In this story, Skeeve's pals go to Klah to check up on Queen Hemlock. First they talk to Big Julie to find out what is going on. They find that King Rodrick is dead and Possiltum is waging a war of conquest. The MI team decides to disrupt the army and arouse the population.

Guido and Nunzio join the army. Naturally, they have to be trained in the army way of doing things. Guido thinks that the training is kind of silly, but he tries to be an inconspicuous recruit.

Unfortunately, Sergeant Smiley appoints him as squad leader of a group of trainees. Guido hates being a leader. As far as he is concerned, leaders have all the responsibilities and none of the fun.

After breaking Smiley's arm and leading the trainees in his place, Guido and his squad are graduated early. Moreover, Guido is promoted to Sergeant and his squad is sent out to take over a supply depot. The whole squad is cooperating in the disruption tactics. Luckily one of his squad is a minor genius at organization.

Meanwhile, Massha visits her friend General Badaxe. Tanda acts like a trollop. And Chumley and Gleep support the team.

This tale takes the MI team into deep frustration. Everything they do turns out to be ineffectual or helpful to the conquering army. Guido is even promoted to Lieutenant.

BTW: The MI team does NOT travel to Perv. The cover of this edition is rather misleading. Skeeve does, but he is not even in the picture.

Then Skeeve returns from Perv to help the team. The next installment is Sweet Myth-tery of Life. Read and enjoy!

Highly recommended for Asprin fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of army logistics, Mob methods, and hilarious consequences. If anyone has not previously read this series, the initial volume is Another Fine Myth.

I have read almost every book in the MYTH series so far and even the ones with Jody Lynn Nye as a co-author have been great. M.Y.T.H. Inc. Link is written solely by Robert Aspirin and has that classic MYTH feel to it. One of the few series I'll re-read. I got this because it was too hard to find the books separately without taking chances on non-Amazon fullfilled orders.
fun fun fun
Love It
A spinoff of the M.Y.T.H. series.
MYTH is a fun read time after time and this one continues the tradition
Usual fare, but definitely a little slower moving and a little slower developing a s well as not as satisfying an ending.
