It wouldn’t matter what I did to keep this woman from trying to take a place-my place- in my family; she would bounce right back. The harder I hit, the faster she would recoil. But that did not change the fact that I owed her an apology.

Instead, lurking in the shadows of Mike's new life is the beautifully dressed Claudia, a self-described "managed perfectionist."

The plans for the Van Aiken/Vander-Brown wedding are growing more fabulous by the day, and Claudia has usurped Darcy's role in an effort to entrench herself in Mike's life -- and to boost her reputation with the Hamptons crowd.

Such a fast and interesting story. I learned a little about corn allergies and ADD, even tho they weren't the main topic. I learned a little about college prep, branding, and special needs kids and their impact on families. I always enjoy this author's use of sewing skills, color and form in her books. When the bad girl leaves the story, it loses a lot of its interest, but it perks up again when the lesser bad girl makes her exit.

I loved this book! I enjoyed the ADD main character....KGS has totally nailed my life.....I read it in one sitting and laughed out loud. However, parts are also touching and I did get a few tears in my eyes. The medical stuff is also good. It also stimulated some deep thinking about friendship and love. I recommend it!

I have been a KGS fan for a long, long time. She wrote great, insightful, character driven romance novels. I own her entire romance back list and they have a permanent place on my keeper shelves.

However, she has moved on from the romance genre and started writing more main stream novels. Her first one, An Uncommon Degree of Popularity was not much to get excited over. Readable, but only just. This one is a little better. Maybe by the next one she will have a handle on this new direction she wants to go in. Me, I just wish she would go back to romance where she really stood out.

I can't believe I never reviewed this! So, after a 3rd or maybe 4th reading--who's counting?--I'm ringing in with my five stars. The book isn't romance, nor does it pretend to be, but it's still romantic, and it's women's fiction at its very best.

I've reread this book so many times! It is one of my favorite books. I let my mom borrow it, and then she passed it along to her neighbour to read. This author is one of my absolute favorites(the other being Mary Balogh). I wish she would write more books.

I've loved KGS for a long time and have read every book she's written. She used to write category romances, moved on to longer more complex romances and her past 2 books haven't had any romance per se in them at all. I miss the romance. I love the characters she creates, who feel so real, like friends next door. I like her dramas and dilemmas are all real world and pertinent. But I miss the romance.
So I bought this hard cover and it has a few shining moments, but I would have liked a bit more passion in it.

Like another reviewer, I have always enjoyed Kathleen Gilles Seidel's books. Unlike that reviewer, I don't miss the romance. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good romance, but when KGS writes a story, it is complete and stands on its own merits with or without romance.
Such is the case with this book. The characters are real, some endearing, some not so much. Like real life, even the villain isn't totally a villain, just too self-involved to think of anyone else, and too focused on the ultimate goal to let anything get in her way.
But, I digress. If you want a book about people who are interesting, whose lives you become involved with, a book that makes you want to see the best things happen for most of the characters, where the situations are totally engrossing without involving murder or mayhem, then read this book. It is great to know that good stories are still being written.
An entertaining quick read. It was light. A nice vacation read.
