Why should our bodies become broken and then fixed? Why not fix them in advance of the damages caused by aging? If the predictions of our present-day scientists are right, most major diseases should be curable by the year 2026. Still, these medical advances will increase the average lifespan by a mere twelve years. And we'll still be stuck with the same ravages of aging: wrinkled skin, slowed reaction times, depression, weight gain, memory loss, declining libido, crippled bodies. Not a lot to look forward to, is it?Until now, celebrity doctors such as Mehmet Oz and Andrew Weil have addressed this issue by advocating losing weight, exercising more, and eating a Spartan diet. But new research has shown that an improved lifestyle is only 20% of the answer. This 20% barely scratches the surface: The remaining 80% mother lode of anti-aging medicine has yet to be mined. This book explores that 80%.The new remedies presented in this book - most of which are known only to those knowledgeable in anti-aging medicine - can slow, prevent, or even reverse many elements of aging without special diets, cosmetics, surgery, and heavy aerobic exercise. In this book, Dr. Lippman - a Nobel Prize nominee for his research in anti-aging medicine - explores this new frontier to give readers advice that really works. Stay 40 without diet or exercise will guide the reader in creating a tailor-made anti-aging program, actually healing or reversing some aspects of aging, such as cataracts and clogged arteries, without surgery. The reader is encouraged to start a personal program to resolve many age-related pre-diseases - such as sub-clinical Type 2 diabetes - that many Americans over thirty encounter, but few doctors will treat until they become full-blown diseases. While Dr. Lippman acknowledges the importance of exercise and specialized nutrition (the 20% standard staples of any anti-aging therapy) he emphasizes the remaining 80% of his new therapies.

I've read many health books and this one is definitely one of the top ones on my shelf. It was easy to read and understand. Also, there were more advanced notes in the book for those of you who are more scientifically inclined. At the end of the book Dr.Lipman included a chapter that breaks down his recommended supplements by your income level--if you don't have a lot of money, if you have some extra money, if you have lots of extra money. This way you know which supplements are more of a priority.

I found the information on hormones interesting. Especially the part explaining the effect of testosterone on blood vessels and heart health. After reading that I ordered hormone lotion(again through Amazon)Testosterone (Bio-Identical) Formulated for Men 4 oz. Jar - Unscented & Paraben-FreeTestosterone (Bio-Identical) Formulated for Women 4 oz. Jar - Unscented & Paraben for myself and my husband. We've been using it less than a week, but I think it did give us more stamina to make it through the hectic Christmas festivities and mochi pounding. Usually after mochi pounding we're all passed out on the couch. This year we actually didn't take a nap and stayed up well past ten pm. The hormones are supposed to help bring you back to your youthful body--increase collagen, blood flow etc.

Dr. Lipman also recommends taking an antioxidant with every meal and he stresses this in several areas of his book. He credits this habit with his good health. He is a firm believer in supplements and gives recommendations for many main stream ones and also ones which I've heard about but didn't understand what they were used for.

Based on his book I've started taking L-carnosine (for glycation reduction)Source Naturals L-Carnosine 500mg, 60 Tablets, DIM (dindolymethane)Source Naturals DIM (Diindolylmethane) 100mg, 120 Tablets, CoQ10, L-glutathione, and some others. I'm buying this book for my sister too and as gifts for my friends (we're all in our late forties and fifties).

I struggled through the first half of this book because it is written in such a sloppy manner -- both in terms of the quality of the writing and the scientific basis of the author's claims. Very little of his claims are supported by anything and many of them are outright ridiculous.

For example he advocated bathing in EDTA to avoid sunburns. I had to stop the book when he stated that carbon monoxide is a gas with unpleasant odor (any scientist worth a damn knows it is odorless).

He talks a lot about when he was nominated for a Nobel Prize. Who cares? There is also a lot of fluff in terms of him describing other scientists as "having a warm smile and a twinkle in his eye," type of irrelevant garbage.

Book could easily be a third of its length and is simply not credible because it is missing and kind of claim backup.
I really liked this book but I am sorry that there was not an index. A friend started one and I have passed it on to others. It was not clear how he could only take one pill per meal and still consume all the nutrients he suggests. I have purchased some of his suggestion nutrients but it is too soon to give a glowing report of their successes.

I appreciate the advice. It's nice to know there are options out there for me to maintain a healthy, young vibrant body will into old age. Again appreciate the spelling out of what is necessary to take and how much
I was glued to this book till I finished it over the week-end. It is a must read for anyone interested in living a long healthy life.
This is perhaps the most accurate explanation of the aging process and what one can do to remain healthy, slow the aging process down to the speed of a snail and live a long and robust life. Dr Bill Lawrence Ph.D.
I've read several books on anti-aging techniques and this is one of the best on a couple of counts. First, much of the information presented here isn't found in some of the most popular resources by Dr. Oz and others like him, especially in terms of proven supplementation options and items that are in common use in Europe. Second, Dr. Lippman provides extensive information on where and how to obtain the items that he recommends. I find this to be extremely valuable. In spite of a few editing errors that are somewhat distracting, this book is well-written and easy to follow. I appreciated the fact that the author provided proven anti-aging regimens that were scalable based upon your goals and your budget. This is a book that you will want to keep as a resource after you have finished it. The price of this book is miniscule compared to the benefits that it will provide in terms of quality of life.
