In lieu of expensive talk therapy (and I didn't want to do the drug thing), I found this book first at the library. It was so helpful I bought a copy to reread and loan to friends suffering from the same issues. It helps so much to know you are not alone. Dr. Davidson writes so compassionately, you feel he completely understands your struggle and that you CAN get better. The self-diagnosis starts the process - very helpful and insightful - and a "whole person" approach is taken to self-help treatment through understanding, self-guided exercises, nutrition, fitness, even spirituality. I strongly recommend it for anyone struggling with anxiety or depression. It may not be your total answer, but it will put you on the right track and in a positive frame of mind.

It is no matter your age or I.q or experience this book is as hard to the core of self recognition as it can get putting the facts into place template for aiding the individual to self correct and then realization bringing you back to a level par with your realization that everyone had while they were 5 years old. Compared to other library full of books this was the all in one book could not be more precise. It also allows the reader to realize their own decision to relegate to this and the field or just say no then go on to greater more empowering toward more life endevers. If you do already have the wisdom clarity understanding certitude in your life this book can keep you from wasting any more time and those resources we have obtained as the human race!?!!! Before during and after great cataclysmic 9/11's or even just short lived flurries of work............

I'd heard about this book on TV and when a friend of mine who suffers from free floating anxiety attacks mentioned she'd heard a lot of good things about the book, also, I found it on Amazon and had it shipped to her. She says she is very happy with the book, and that it's helped her greatly in understanding and eliminating her anxiety.

I found this book to be a God send. It's a very helpful, useful, insightful, book. It's helpful personally and in my practice as a school nurse. A book you read and then lend to others.
A family member of mine is going through a rough patch and I bought this book in hopes that it'd help them get an idea of how to manage anxiety. After reading through it, I've decided against showing them this book. It seemed like the first chapter of this book was trying to convince the reader that anxiety was really OCD and primarily occurred in social settings. This *might* be of some value to a person with social anxiety but is pretty much worthless for someone that has anxiety about hypothetical worst-case scenarios.

I also want to mention that this book's definition of OCD is limited to "repetitive actions" and "counting". It really isn't that great.
