I read a great deal of information about cheat days, and cheat meals at T-Nation,Bodybuilding.com, and I purchased a couple of the Lyle McDonald ebooks as well. I also found Precision Nutrition by John Berardi useful, but complicated (it really isn't, I made it that way though-I think it's a lot more rules than I could handle). If you think Joel Marion uses a ton of references, the entire body of work is overwhelming. Anyhow, Joel makes carb cycling livable and accessible to the average person. There is not low-medium-high-low-medium-high-cheat day cycle. That type of cycling blew me away in OVER micro-management.

You can get all the information from a variety of Internet sources, but this is a good consolidation of the work with a plan that I find livable for me. I am 139 and would like to bust through this fat and get it from around 25-30% to about 18-20% and I feel that with this cycling and plan that I can do that. I bought the book from a re-seller so it was a cheap investment, but it's going to stay on the shelf--it took a minute to dust it off to get into too! Anyhow, I just finished my first week in the priming phase and I am down 3 pounds despite the fact that I probably over-consumed on fat (AKA peanut butter). I think that for women who are over-fat in the sense that we want to have ripped abs and high muscle composition, that portion control is an issue. It seems unlikely that a woman with 25% bodyfat who weighs 115 would lose weight quickly using the portion measuring methods here. I know they are custom to each person, but I'd be curious to find out if it works at the lower body weight levels as well.

Quick and easy read. A good amount of information but I see that some of it just simply isn't going to fit my needs. There didn't seem to be modifications....either follow this book to a T or you'll not be successful is the message I got. Just another fad diet book.

This diet has worked great for the wife and I. I am down 32 pounds over 20 weeks. It is a straight forward diet that is easy to follow, and Saturday cheat days give you something to look forward to each week, and help you find the willpower to get through the week. Every two days is different on the diet, so you don't get bored eating the same things. Marion recommends specific brands of protein shakes and bars, but they aren't really necessary, and we don't use them.

The book itself is just OK. It could have been written as a 50 page pamphlet and contained everything you need to know, but Marion drags it out unnecessarily over hundreds of pages. At eleven dollars on Amazon, it is worth buying and we have recommended it to many of our friends.

We have tried several recipes from the book and most have been very good.

This is the first diet I have been able to stay on - Plenty to eat. In the first three weeks I lost 11 lbs!!
This is solid medical advice -- my doctor ordered me onto a low carb diet and this one really works.

The concept works but for me it has been much slower and less dramatic than expected. I have lost 5 lbs. but it has taken me over a month.

Unlike Most Fad Diets, the Cheat to Lose Diet is proven to work. By looking at our bodies Leptin levels in association with what we eat, we can shock our metabolisms by altering our Carb and Fat intakes. The diet allows us to cheat one day, which can be seen as a reward for dieting. But are we really dieting? I've been on this diet, close to 2 months and I feel great. Im never hungry, I've been eating foods such as fruits, whole-grains, Foods I havent had in years and I've been shedding off Body Fat and Increasing my Muscles. Out of all the diets I've tried, this is by far the best and most logical way for anybody to diet.
So i stumble upon this book looking for a good safe diet idea for my family to try. I can say I'm very glad i did amd we have been very happy with the results. The 21 day prime was over before we knew it. It was so easy and not once did we get hungry. Infact we felt we where eating all the time. The 2nd phase the actual diet part has been a breeze. This as any other diet is all about planning and knowing where your next meal is and portion sizes. You don't have to over eat or feel like your under eating. I think one of the best things that helps out is knowing if you are out and about and forgot your meal or lost track of time and need to eat just hit up a chick filet and get a good salad or depending on the day a wrap or chicken sandwich and fruit cup and drink lots of water. You will find that you can get away sometimes if you want to have their diet lemonade as well for a change. We also spike our water at home with pure lemon juice amd cook with it as well as use it in salads at home. The next best thing you will need to do is keep the book on hand and use it to look up things when your in doubt on what you can eat for the day. Folks this is not a hard diet to do and it works nice and slow as it should to maintain thos weight off. The cheat days come every Saturday as well unless you move it for your schedule. He even explains how to do that. The next thing I can recommend is dont stress over this diet and your weight loss it will happen as long as you follow the books instructions. Good luck to you
