Dan Kern's clear skin method treatment will lead to staining of pillowcases and apparel (especially if one has body acne), but some see that as a small price to pay for a clearer or completely clear complexion. Also as a heads up, this method is not intended for the "severe" acne cases. Desperately, I tried Dan Kern's Regimen. It DID completely clear my skin for about 6 weeks and worked better than any other external treatment I have ever tried. Unfortunately, I gradually started developing pimples/breakouts again and, no matter how much of the BP I applied to my skin, the pimples would NOT go away. In fact, the breakouts were so much more stubborn than they were BEFORE I started the treatment that NOTHING would make them go away.
The book includes: € A simple, step-by-step morning and evening regimen € Acne facts and myths € The biological basis of breakouts € Simple behavior changes that can make a big difference € Tips on shaving, cosmetics, and your skin € Before-and-after photos.

There are a lot of misconceptions out there about our skin and purging or breaking out, so I hope to put those to rest today once and for all, and help you decipher whether or not your skin is actually purging, or if it just plain ol' doesn't like the product you're using. First, purging is not a myth. Your skin can and does purge. But, not how you might think. A lot of companies that boast being "all-natural" or "chemical-free" also like to claim that their products cause purging due to some kind of a skin "detox". This is false, plain and simple. But after this initial breakout or "purge", things should slowly but consistently improve, not only improve from the point of purging, but it should also improve your skin compared to what it was before you started the product. Some ingredients and products that can cause "purging": AHAs & BHAs (glycolic acid, malic acid, salicylic acid).

Dan Kern’s acne started at age 11. In his case, it just never stopped. By college, Kern had tried. salicylic acid; Retin-A; clindamycin, a topical antibiotic; and sulfur to reduce the hundreds of pimples on his face. All yielded minor results. The latter two actually made it worse. My skin plummeted to levels I had never seen, says Kern, 34, of San Francisco. In 2004, backed by a St. Louis dermatologist, he wrote Clear Skin: Heal Your Skin and End the Breakouts, Once and for All. Kim Tyda had no luck with dermatologists, either. Breakouts started last year, when she moved from Sacramento to Alameda. A dermatologist prescribed Differin. The ointment increased her acne. I broke out in places I’d never had pimples before, says Tyda, 37. I’d wake up one day and be clear and the next, when I had to give a presentation, I was totally broken out on my chin.
