Quite strikingly, there are (with a single exception) no references to Fuzzy Sets and Systems even. The book is an description of direct adaptive control techniques. The author has identified the need to bridge the gap between theory and practice regarding model reference adaptive control (MRAC) methodologies. The author attempts this difficult task by using a minimum of mathematical theory, numerous examples, and case studies. The final two chapters are case studies exclusively.

In the Adaptive Control the controller structure consists of a feedback loop and a controller with adjustable gains. Purpose of this work is to demonstrate the design of the Model Reference Adaptive Control based on MRC problem for a general class of LTI SISO plants by using it to control a real laboratory plant.
