I always buy older versions than what my syllabus requires because the differences are minute and the savings are big. This one, however, was pretty useless. My class required the 13th edition so I thought 12th would be great but they made a lot of changes between 12 and 13. I'm still giving it 5 stars cause it's obviously not their fault but I want to warn you guys to not get this one if you need 13th or later versions

This book I swear has made me stupider. I'm a computer technician and I'm going to school to get ready for my Microsoft Certificates and I'm mean I swear this book is outdated, incorrect, and opinionated as heck. Besides the simple stuff like explaining two types of printers (which we all know there are more than laser and inkjet (cough cough thermal)) I am horribly disappointed that any school would use this material. Keep going....
This review is for Amazon and the Renter themselves. This book sells for $180 in my school store and $111 to rent. I payed $11.00 to rent it for my quarter. THANK YOU AMAZON for helping me not waste money on such a horrible piece of literature. The fact that Amazon can provide this for me is why I recommend doing everything through them. We don't have a choice with these books when it comes to college it's just nice to know someone isn't trying to screw us over.

This book was required for my Intro to Computer Information Systems class, and I felt it does a good job covering the basics about what is important in technology today. For me, these types of subjects are better covered with hands on experience, so there were plenty of places where the text can be a bit boring, so I made sure to take plenty of notes in order to be able to pass the exams. This is a good place to start if you are looking to pursue a tech related career.

Mine came with the access code on the first page. If you rent the book, it clearly says "access code not guaranteed in rentals." If you buy new, it should be included. If it is not included in a new purchase, you should return the book. That being said, I appear to be all set.

This was a required textbook for a class I was in. I love the ability to get my books digitally, but was frustrated to find that this was only able to be read on the Kindle Fire. I bought a Fire with a small screen to save space, knowing that I could read books on my laptop when I needed to view the full pages. This feature wasn't available to me in the digital purchase. Had I known this in advance I would have most likely purchased a hard copy. It left me very frustrated over the course of my semester.

Technology In Action, Complete (6th Edition)I had trouble purchasing this book at the campus bookstore because my campus did not have it in stock. I purchased this book on BN and they sent me the wrong edition. I had to return it, and re-purchase it. Then, the day I was suppose to receive it, I get an email stating that my order was cancelled due to them not carrying it in stock! I was so PO'd! I logged into Amazon, purchased the book I needed (cheaper) and i had it in my hands THE NEXT DAY! I am so thrilled! I was already 4 days behind on my classwork due to all the screw-ups... I cant thank you enough! :)

About the actual text: I am enjoying this textbook. It is well written and comes with a CD as an extra resource. All chapters have a Chapter Summary and Key Terms and where to locate them in the text. Also, for practice, each chapter has a real-world scenario with fill in the blanks using buzzwords and vocabulary, a self-test in both multiple choice and true/false formats, a "making the transition" section, and critical thinking questions. Overall- 2 thumbs up!

The book came 4 weeks after the class started. Really upset about now I don't need it it.
For petes / heavens sakes, find another vendor besides the group I used. Yes they were the cheapest but not the fastest.

Honestly, just get the MS Ofc 2013 book and the online MyITLabs w/ pearsons eText, it includes the digital version of the Tech in action.
Renting is a great option for those of us who'd rather not pay for the alternative. The copy of the textbook I received was in great shape! A couple pages were folded, and the cover was a little beat up, but there was no writing, gross smells, or anything else that would make this book unusable.
