Students of Corvette history will recognize this 1960 Corvette, which was featured in Noland Adams’ book Corvette: American Legend 1958-1960 as one of two prototypes built that year with the 283/315 HP fuel injected V-8. A Duntov Award winner in 2007 and one of the most famous of the so-called Big Brake cars, this Roman Red rocket retains its entire original driveline, including its 4-speed manual and Positraction rear end, and comes with full owner documentation right back to the original selling dealer.

The third Corvette SS was a stock 1956 Corvette modified for the 1957 show circuit. It was modified in December of 1956 and shown at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City in January of 1957. Although we've called it the third Corvette Super Sport, it may have been the first. Source: Corvette, American Legend, 1957 Fuel Injection, 283 V-8.

1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ENGINES The new-for-1957 283 small block V8 was the only engine offered in the 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it came in many forms. The base engine made 220 horsepower with a single 4-barrel carburetor. THE 1956 CHEVROLET CORVETTE "FUELIE" The Rochester fuel injection system was really the brainchild of Zora Arkus-Duntov, widely regarded as the "Father of the Corvette". And it was a technical marvel in its time. And they were incredibly sexy to look at.

Corvette's 240-horsepower engine propelled it to greatness. But the 1957 model year's fuel-injection and four-speed transmission made it super special. This kind of performance eliminated any doubt about the Corvette's performance credibility. In this volume, Corvette authority Noland Adams offers a dynamic collection of original factory photographs that illustrate the 1957 Corvette's production history.

very informative
Noland Adams is the Greatest when it comes to Corvette History. Pictures of early Corvette Production like none you've ever seen before.
The product arrived within the estimated delivery time and performed as described.
A great book in the series of the first generation Vettes by Adams. Must haves (all 5) by early Corvette enthusiasts. Covers all the ground with some great photos. But one thing Mr. Adams. Why not some of the great 1957 Corvette advertising copy that was around at the time? All the F.I.; one horsepower per cubic inch stuff. A whole chapter could have been done on this alone. Groundbreaking ad copy missing, otherwise a great book.
Another Volume in the Noland Adams Corvette Series of Books covering the Solid Axle cars of 1953-62,this Book Specifically(the second to last in the volume, the next/last is 1958-1960)Covering the 1957 Year an great year for Chevrolet and more so Corvette coming off the 1956 Racing Successes of the previous(and covered in that book)and the Ones for 1957 Even If THE SS was an DNF.Fuel Injection Being Introduced now famously known as "Fuelies" and coveted. The Book covers where 1956 volume left off and at times does repeat as well Repeat Pictures(some and an misidentified one that shows Stirling Moss yet is identified as another driver in the section of SS Corvette.)Yet the Book is still worth it and well-written with in-depth information and an plethora of Archival Photos(All Black and white except cover and rear of book's dustjacket.)There is even an section on The Corvette Super Sport(NOT THE SS Racer but an Autoshow Concept!)and section on Joe Pike(Of Corvette News later Corvette Quarterly) and On Sebring and Daytona there are chapters.I Highly recommend getting all of the volumes of Noland Adams Informative series to complete your Corvette Library.
. Good stuff! The author obviously likes Corvettes.Like all of the others in the series, this volume gives a nice history and shows advertising and articles on the cars
