I'm new to Copic Markers, and I have been researching them as much as I can. This is the first book on Copic Markers that I have bought. It's a really great introduction to Copic Markers. It starts with the basics: the types of markers/marker styles, the Copic Color System (which includes the lettering code for the different color family's, and the numbering codes), blending rules, and how to test inks and papers. From there, it goes on to Inking Techniques and Blending Techniques, followed by a lot of practice projects. The Author's walk you through each step of every project. This really is a great book, on Copic Markers, for Beginners! I like this book so much, that I plan on purchasing all of the books in this series. I highly recommend this book!
As a non-artist, never having heard of copic markers before, but seeing my coloring friends post on FB about using them, I had to find out about how to use them. At $7 - $8 per pen, this is not a small decision, so I thought, better read about the tips and techniques before I decide if it is too advanced for me! There are volumes 1 through 4 of this coloring guide, and I have gotten 1 & 2 so far. I am learning every day! Thank you!
I’m new to copic markers and coloring. I was very excited with this series hoping that it would really help develop my skills. However, I was very disappointed in this book. I would have liked there to be more explanation on the coloring techniques for each project. I also would have greatly appreciated it if this book would have come with the patterns for each project. I have found it impossible to find some of these stamp sets, and had no intention of forking out so much extra money for each project. Not the most encouraging way to learn a new skill. If patterns were included with a little more detail on coloring each one, I would have given this a five. Not sure I want to bother with the rest of the series now. Who knows how many images/ stamps are no longer available.
Only a few pages on Copic Marker instruction that could be found anywhere. The rest of the book was making greeting cards, which I'm not interested in. But if cards are your thing, grab the book. It's colorful and is beautifully designed.
I have the first book in the series. The first book can be read in 15 minutes. This book delves much deeper than using a series of three within the same family, e.g. B00, B10, B13. This book provides the knowledge to blend across families such as yellow with a yellow red group. Beautiful results! It is not relegated to plants, as the cover photo might suggest. The theory presented here will span across all projects!

As a gauge for my skill level, I have been using Copics for a few weeks now and have mastered the 'rules of three' (lol). Time to move on into a richer understanding!
It includes in very small print the stamps you need to purchase in order to make each card and learn each technique; however, of the three stamp sets I wished to order none of them were available. I did not check the other stamp sets as I was already discouraged. I should have paid attention to the year 2017 and that frequently stamps get discontinued. Hence a 2 rating and not a 0-1 rating.
Good book if you have no other way to see Copic coloring.
I enjoy watching videos on Youtube so much more. Seeing someone talk and use the markers is the best, but if you do not have access to Youtube, this book is for you.
They should have given a CD with the images that they work with so you can REALLY practice. It's difficult to practice any skills when you don't have the image they are working with. They need to make arrangements with the stamp designers for this.
