Ships from and sold by b4cause. I guess this book is good for learning how to build the sample site outlined in the book, but it's not great as a reference to use while trying to build your own site. I finally gave up and bought another copy of Dreamweaver, which handles a lot better and is much more intuitive than GoLive.

Classroom in a book series are totally great tools and this was no exception. GoLive 4.0 is long out of flavor, but this book was a big help in developing some projects.

This is the third Adobe 'Classroom in a book' book I have purchased, and the worst. I have the Windows version, but the book seems more oriented towards a Mac. This seems to have created a problem - not every step is correct. SUGGESTION TO ADOBE - rewrite two books - one each for Windows and Mac, double-check all steps, and make it less of a beginner only book. . .

In the "Classroom in a book" I found that the steps were easy enough to follow and the examples were interesting, but I would have liked more help in the overall preparation of creating a Web site. While I was able to follow the directions simply, as all the files were there, I felt that it wouldn't translate as easily when I began my site, since I was starting from scratch & wouldn't have the luxury of pre-prepared graphics, text and design. This book is a tutorial, so it lacks the inspiration and advice that another sort of book would offer. For Web design I prefer something more conversational.

I wanted to move up in web design so I purchased GoLive 4.0. I was having trouble going from my earlier simple web design software to Adobe GoLive however. GoLive's complexity can be daunting at first. The Classroom in a Book bailed me out since I was able to move through the lessons at my leisure becoming familiar with different aspects of the new interface. I am now more comfortable with GoLive and will be able to work on recreating my website more professionally.

... if you are just getting into computers, the web, webdesign or graphic design and are a complete and utter beginner, or youhave a hard time learning new software -- this book is for you. Its a very gentle start on the program and after wards you can create a web site. You can also learn to maek a basic web page for free on the web... and save the money. If you have had any experience with design software & windows and have made an attempt to read the manual than skip this book. it useless for anything but the bare basics. It should ahve been included as a quick start guide instead.

Before I started using Adobe Go Live Classroom in a Book I had no knowledge at all about building a web site. I found the book very helpful since I was starting from a blank slate, but if you have any knowledge of web design at all I wouldn't recommend this book. It quite often refers to the users manual for more in depth description and the lessons often left me with a lot of unanswered questions. Overall, it proved to be very helpful for me though. I am confident that I could now build my own web site, though it would not be a very complex project! I would recommend this book as a starting point to anyone who would like to learn the basics, but plan on investing in a more advanced book later on to learn the more intricate details of the program.

I bought this book based upon the user responses before me. This book is perfect for the web designer who lives in the Ice Age and has never used an Adobe product before. The contents of this book are already known by most sixth graders. If you are a pre-sixth grader in modern times and think Adobe is ONLY a building material, this book is perfect for you!
As with most tutorials, this one suffers miserably from being completely linear, and completely based on your working with their site, not yours. If you have a simple question about a simple operation in the software, it is just about impossible to find the information you need and get a simple answer. I find it worse that useless, it is infuriating.
