The book should be called "How to install your own Windows Computer in a dodge caravan to make it look more cool". This book is about installing a PC in a car.

Has only a few pages about the actual vehicle on board computer and information listed there is useless with no hacking tips or techniques.

Amazon is offering this book in combination with "Geek My Ride" which, of course, makes much sense. However, if you are faced with choosing between the two, "Car PC Hacks" is the far superior book. It has at least five times as much actual content and is much better at giving you a complete picture of what you can do with car computers and electronics.

After carefully pondering the Amazon descriptions and reviews, I bought "Geek My Ride" first and "Car PC Hacks" second. That was the wrong decision, as "Car PC Hacks" is comprehensive enough to eliminate most people's need for another book on the topic.

This book is not short on info. This book does have a lot of info on how to "geek your ride". From putting a PC to your car, to having a gaming n, it is 300 pages of electronic goodness that you can use to add some tech to a car that may be a lil... old. The book is a tad dated, but not too dated that current tech won't apply. But an example is, that it reference PS2, xbox and Gamecube and not the current gen consoles.

You won't believe the hacks in this book. I've had a couple of weird ideas I've wanted to try out this book explains how to do it. Plus it had a ton of ideas I didn't even think of, and my sweetie thinks i'm warped? Some cool stuff here.

This book is a very good introduction to installing your own multi-function vehicle PC. Using this guide anyone with reasonable computer and car audio skills should be able to install a working system. It is written at the basic to intermediate level; I have just finished installing my second system and although much of the information was known to me, I still picked up some new and useful tips. People looking for more advanced information and ideas should spend some time at the MP3Car forums. Many of the contributors to this book are prominent members of the carputer community and know their stuff.

Car PC's seem to have been overtaken by smartphones, but this book has a lot of general information about car electrical systems for those who wish to modify them to accept some accessory that didn't exist when the car was built. I found it very useful.
Kanek
Completely outdated and gives many examples of so called "hacks" which are no more than common sense.
You have a need for more outlets install more outlets.
This book has almost everything you need to get started with hacking a car pc. Its great to have.
