My husband loves the writings of Charles Finney. He studied Finney's book on Systematic Theology and feels this man truly understood the teachings of Jesus. In fact, his book was so well used that it was falling apart and I was able to locate another one for him as a replacement. The Heart of Truth is a natural follow-up to Systematic Theology, and is just as good, as all of Finney's writings are. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants a deep understanding of Truth.
It's 2016; and I have made the choice for a season to leave,or to make a departure from the contemporary church for the most part, to be alone in prayer, and to address, again, the teachings of this fairly misunderstood man,who carried the Spirit of God, yet of being considered on one extreme a "Wolf in Sheep"s Clothing" by very few so called, proud theological types, but proved to have had divine influence throughout his lifespan to the purported conversion of some 500,000,beginning about 175 years ago for decades..This is a must read for truth, like most of his work, which few will understand, and I have been a Finney reader and have followed after his teachings for over 40 years, and still don't understand some teachings.. So,understand some of his writings, are very deep especially these days.So read, a little at a time is what is being suggested.
Finney starts with a solid foundation in natural theology using a lawyers sharp mind and his experience as a revival preacher and college professor to built a solid outline of the great doctrines of the Bible. It is both intelligent and solid. Highly recommended. Should be the beginning Theology text in every Bible College, Seminary and church school.
