Whispers of Winter (Alaskan Quest). Published by Thriftbooks. com User, 11 years ago. I loved the book. A terrific Ending to a Magnificent Series. In picking up where UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS left off, Tracie Peterson quickly immerses the reader in the gripping conclusion to her thrilling "Alaskan Quest" adventure and historical inspirational series.

Jacob Barringer and Jayce Kincaid face the isolation of the frozen north after their ship is lost in the Arctic ice, while back at Last Chance Creek, Helaina and Leah form a special bond as they help each other get through the long wait for the men they love.

This was great series. I really enjoyed all the references to scripture and this really is a Christian based series. It really shows how hard life was back then and so many people lost. They did not have all the knowledge and conveniences we have now. There were no hospitals close by so you treated illnesses with what you had. It also brings to light the loss we feel when we lose those we love. Tracie Peterson tells a story well and it can be gripping and terrifying at times. Only issue was the proofreading. Sentences and paragraphs run together but it did not take away from the story. I will definitely read more of her stories.

The series is a good read. But, it clearly promotes Christian religion. All three books are heavy with Christian scripture references. I didn't expect that, thus the loss of one star. It isn't that I minded, but felt it was a tad too much. The research on Alaska's history was spot on. Literary license is one thing, but so annoying when an author makes geographical or historical reference errors. This author was accurate in use of events and language references.

Gives a wonderful picture of early life of settlers in Alaska and follows one family's story. There are 3 books in the series. You'll have to read them all. You just can't stand not knowing what will happen. These were my two week vacation reading material. While at the lake with August hot weather, I went to Alaska. Of course as cold as my husband keeps the camper, it really wasn't hard to imagine. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

I liked it enough to read the entire trilogy. The Alaska scenes seemed real to me. Hardship, coupled with lots of factual elements regarding the native Alaskan culture mixed with the social mores of the times made for interesting reading as each character developed in his or her own right in respect to the challenges of the wilderness & the times. Lovely family interactions mixed with lots of adventure, and intrigue. I felt like I was there at times. Kudos to the author for that!

I recently took a trip to Alaska and wanted to read some books with that State as the backdrop. Out of the blue I saw Tracie Peterson's books available as Kindle books--my preferred reading method. I've read all 3 books in the series now. Through various characters and circumstances, Tracie's underlying theme of "trusting God in it all" comes through well. Get's you thinking. Also, I feel like I know more about Alaska and its Native roots. Will read more of her books.

I loved this book. It was very heart warming. I love the faith building and soul searching that it brought about. The plot was even paced and quite interesting. The clean vocabulary and clean morals in it only enhanced the story line for me. Good job, Tracie Peterson. I look forward to reading more of her books.

This is a great 3 book series. Hated to see the end of book 3! Interesting facts from early Alaska as well as an engaging storyline. Only implied sexual content and nothing graphic. Even a teen could read this series with no problems.
Please read my other 2 reviews on this story ... if you like Intrigue, mixed with history, romance and Christian reading this this series is something you are bound to like. I have to admit as I have stated over and over that I love this that Tracie does ... I have learned about railroads (that frankly I didn't think I had any interest in other than getting me from Portland, Or to Seattle, WA via Amtrak ...LOL .... but I found those 2 series so very interesting ... and I have read a few in Alaska... including some with the Gold Rush ... what great reading ... love the intrigue, although as I said I had it figured out very early in the book, but that did not lessen my interest in the books .. or my thrill in reading them. Very worthwhile reading in my opinion.
