Scott Rigsby is from a small town called Camilla, Georgia which is very near my hometown of Thomasville, Georgia. Although I do not know Scott Rigsby personally, I have several good friends that do. They kept telling me about this amazing book that they had just read about a friend of theirs. Naturally, I had to read it for myself. I had no idea of what to expect, but I was floored at what I learned by reading Scott's story. Not only is it Unthinkable, it is Inspirational! I still find myself drawing strength from his words even 4 years after initially reading his book.

One of the BEST books I've ever read & THE BEST non- fiction that I've ever read. This book is inspirational & spellbinding. When Scott talks about approaching the finish line, but running out of time for it to be an official Iron Man finish, & the fans response I rooted for him & got choked up & teary eyed at the same time! Great book for anyone that needs a 'pick-me- up' or an inspirational boost. Being an athlete, I think about Scott often when my body wants to quit. His quest is the definition of 'balls to the wall', 'giving it 110%', leaving it all out there on the field' or any other cliche like those! Scott is a true hero!

This book is similar to sitting down with someone and learning every detail of their journey. The journey is hard and nothing like most people will ever go through. However, there is something for everyone in this book. It is tough reading about the hard times, knowing the real story makes you see what Scott has accomplished is UnThinkable. People would have understood if he had given up, what a blessing to see him reach his goal. Reaching his goal allows him to serve as a witness to so many people and help them reach their UnThinkable. When I read the part his father told him you should have started this 20 years ago, I laughed because that is the tape that plays in my head all the time. His mother's strength is another inspiring story. The message I take away from this book is there are no excuses, it's never too late, and God has big plans for all of us...even when we can't see it.
This book will make a wonderful gift for anyone who works with people with special needs.

I have meet Scott Rigsby. He is someone who has accomplished what would seem unthinkable. Book was good. Chapter 12 to me was the most interesting when it describes his experiences in participating in the Ironman event. I would recommend the book. It is out as a Kindle book.

Just finished "Unthinkable". Sounds cliche I know, but I really had a hard time putting this book down. Scott's story is incredible as is his openness and brutal honesty. Having done two Ironman races (including Coeur d'Alene in 2008, where I had the privilege of meeting Scott, and Florida in 2011), I know what it takes. Ironman dominates your life for many months and requires total dedication and a huge commitment of time, energy and emotion. In some ways it is "unthinkable" for anyone to do an Ironman but for a double amputee to complete Kona - which is way harder than the other I.M. races - that is really unbelievable. In fact, "Unbelievable" may have been a good title as well. However, the MOST impressive part of Scott's story is not the Ironman, rather, that through all the adversity, highs and lows, he has discovered the TRUE key to life - giving to others - and is living that life to the fullest, giving hope and inspiration to so many people. This is a great person and a great book. Read it - you will be glad you did.

It is a true testament that perseverance and will power can turn a tragedy into a new beginning. I have no idea how tough it must have been for this man to get from where he was to where he is today. We each fight our own battles, but his was an epic one and his book made an impact on my life and who I am today! Thank you Scott!
It is possible to rebound! It is possible to move on and to be stronger in all of the ways that count if you just believe and act on that belief that you can.
Best of luck to you in all of your endeavors Scott! You see, Scott is still moving forward and accomplishing great things both personally and physically every day! KEEP AFTER IT!

Scott is an amazing human being. I applaud his courage in being so honest about his life and in his ability to get back up and become even better than he was before. He really did achieve the Unthinkable by improving himself athletically, spiritually, and as a human being after unimaginable trauma. Scott proves that the only limits in life are the ones you place on yourself. As a four time cancer survivor myself, Scott's story has inspired me in many ways. He makes me believe that not only can I come back, but I can do things I've never done before. I wake up each day with optimism about the future. Kudos to Jenna Glatzer for capturing his story and making it flow so well that you don't want to put it down.

You will feel all the emotions your heart and mind can hold as you read this book about Scott Rigsby's life! With bold truthfulness, Scott's life unfolds in each chapter and by the end of the book, you will want to meet him in person! I was blessed with this opportunity when I qualified for the Kona Ironman World Championships as a 6 year cancer survivor and in my 60's! On the way back from Havi, with winds howling, I crashed on my bike and slid across the lava road. With contusions, major road rash, and disoriented, I got back on my bike, not at all certain I would finish this IM journey! Along came a strong biker who asked how I was doing. At first I did not notice this biker was a double amputee and I described my accident, feeling sorry for myself. The biker said, "I know what you mean about pain...I've had to stop three times to remove my legs because of the inflammation and swelling!" At that moment, I recognized Scott Rigsby and was SO humbled to have him asking ME how I was doing! He encouraged me with these words, "Pat, we only have 30 miles to go before the glorious marathon!!"
I KNEW then that I would finish! If YOU think that any challenge is "unthinkable"...Scott's book is a must read! I am forever grateful to this "World Class Athlete and Friend!"
